PRINCE ONA LIVE DVD - THIS IS WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN

Ideally, he should have done the following:

Disc 1

1) Full 3 hour set from Las Vegas gig
2) Bonus Songs from other ONA gigs (i.e. Muse to the Pharoah)

Disc 2

1) Compilation of best songs from all 2002 aftershows (90 Mins)
2) "Automatic" from ONA aftershow in London 5/10/02
3) Prince 10 min Interview
4) ONA Concept
5) Interviews with Maceo Parker, Candy Dulfer and John Blackwell

I would happily pay $35.00 for this 2 DVD edition!

What would be your ideal Prince DVD for the ONA tour?

Well, I think the DVD in it's current format (edited), should have been broadcast on Pay Per View as like a teaser for the full blown DVD.

Then, ship the DVD with all the features that LondonGuy has stated above.

That would have been smarter, and would have made Prince double the $

I would love to have a two DVD disc of any one of the shows from this tour, and it would be particularly great if it were from the European leg, as the gigs I went to in London and Paris have brilliant set-lists.

It would be a catastrophy for Prince to omit Muse and Xenophobia in particullar as these were real highlight of the show... equally his piano section was awesome, and it would be such a showcase as to the sheer briliance of Prince as a singer.

I am not interested, as Prince isn't, in commercial success, but the ONA gigs were superb and I think as a diary or account of such a tour, it would be really special to have a full set, incl the above highlights.

As an additional disc, I think a full aftershow would be brilliant, as the aftershows are so unique and special, what a treat seeing Prince and the Band free jamming a working some really all time classix of his, not usually performed live... such Somthing in The Water.

As DVD's can carry so much material, it might be good to chuck in a bonus video of a new video and backstage footage, along with scattered innerviews.

Sade's, Lovers Live is a brilliant example of a superb concert on DVD... come on Prince, bring it on!

Having written all that, I'd be pleased with anything on DVD from his ONA tour, but I'd be so pleased if it were all as I have detailed above!

Peace to the world.

LondonGuy you know what ?
I would be totally content only with DVD1 of your set.
Where is the problem in releasing a whole show on DVD ? I simply don't understand it.

The first cd would be just fine but no Prince had to act like a retard again and release only 80 minutes. For fuck sake only 80 minutes !!!

Chasing, the tracklisting that has been posted with 14 tracks is correct, unfortunately. I suppose there's still a possibility of there being a bonus extra disc or something...but really, when was the last time we got anything like that?

im afraid this time the majority r right, this dvd is gona suck bigtime, since it doesnt have any of the most played tracks from the tour, any casual person who is gonna watch this will think the tour was totally different from wat it actually was!

Why in hell has he left out literally every decent song from the show, it doesnt make any sense whatsoever!

I mean he left out:-

Purple Rain - understandable but would have been welcomed
The Ladder - hello???

All of the best songs from the Rainbow Children

All of the best songs from One Nite Alone

The piano medley w HCUDCMA, Nothing Compares etc

Sad but true. Since he started NPGMC a few years ago, he has conctantly managed to disappoint us. All that promises, all that expectations on the one hand, all that problems and second rate stuff on the other hand.
Sad but true.

Ok, so it's certain that it's edited.

But what about the actual music?

Will that contain overdubs on the soundtrack in the same way that ONAL got? Is that one of the reasons that this DVD has taken over 8 months to get a release, and Prince has been on the down low? (spending time putting overdubs on this release?)

Hmmm???

There are only 4 overdubs on ONAL. read previous posts concerning this issue. You have as well the comments made by the sound engineer. and if you had been at the concert you would hear that it's exactly what you could hear on stage.

Ok, but weather it's 4 or 400, It still contains overdubs.

My question is, does the audio track on this DVD have overdubs?

I dig what everybody's saying.
which is why i'm not in his club!
i think the only thing i ever got from his that was on time
was CRYSTAL BALL.

i love his music to death but he ain't good at marketing-
never has been,

i prefer to buy His stuff in the store or if possible drom
amazon or something like that.

as far as the DVD is concerned...i'll probably get it cuz i
wasn't able to get to any of the shows...and it would be
a nice addition to my prince video-cd/record collection.

i agree about all of the complaints.

every music dvd i have gives you a lot of extra stuff (usually an extra dvd disk...plus deleted scenes -extra
tunes.
i pray what is listed is a joke. that he's gonna surprise
us...cuz if not his dvd ain't gonna sell worth a DAmn.

only the real diehards like me will buy it.

i dig p music and his LOVE of his ART...but he sucks as
a marketing man. always has.

(think back to some of the bad singles he put out back in
the day!)

charles yc...man i wish i had 10 minutes with the dude.
i'd GIVE him plenty of shit for stuff he's done to fans!

youngca, generally the more, uh, rabid members will chastise you for daring to criticize the almighty man behind the curtain, and then the moderators will either lock the thread or just delete it altogether.

many people discussed their dissatisfaction with the DVD contents on the site, and many people were told to stop complaining.

I agree totally. This live performance DVD is the best in my collection. Any artist that wants to know how to put together a music DVD should learn from this great blueprint.

Problem being the London aftershow was not filmed. So Im not sure why your asking for this as an extra?
