Today I came across an article about the "frontrunners" for the 2004 class. To my utter dismay, Prince was not on the list. Of those who did make the list of frontrunners: The Cars, The Pretenders, Rick James, Chaka Khan , The Dells, Van Halen, and ZZ Top...sorry but no Prince.

The hoopla is currently surrounding a possible Van Halen and ZZ Top induction.

Anyone else heard any news? (I know that July is the deadline for the shortlist of nominees.)

4 black artists and any1n who chooses 2 do their own thang we know the world has a real short memory when it comes 2 our contributions, therefore givin us a short time on their shelves... so 4 us the realest and best awards come from people like us on this board that still remember and never 4got what the music meant 2 us in the 1st place...

Also, just because we think he is the greatest musician of all time doesn't mean the powers that be think it. Politics probably come into play here as well.

By the way, I am so stoked The Dells are frontrunners. They have been overlooked for years(been in the business for 50 years now), so if they get in, I'll be so happy for them.

it's not unusual for an artist not to be included on the right year. Black Sabbath have yet to be inducted. If it's not this year, it'll be next year or the year after. if anybody is a shoe-in, it's Prince.

more importantly, what's he going to perform at his induction night?
