Around the world in a day

Just listening to this album...I haven't really listened to it (I mean really listen to it) in a while. I would have to say it's absolutly brillant. Sometimes I have to seperate myself from Prince's music for a while to truely see how absolutly amazing his writing has been and continues to be.

I always thought he could have done more the the song Paisley Park. It has one hell of a cool vocal melody, but the music could have been a lto better. I think I am going to record a remix of this. I plan to keep the vocal melody and the keys, but add new drums, bass, horns, percussion and strings. I think it would be fun to do and would sound great.

I have all of Prince's music in my iTunes, and while at work I put it on "shuffle" mode (random).

Listening to his catalog this way is the best - you get to hear all the differences through the years, but even in that there is a distinct "signature" sound.

I do agree though, ATWIAD is a beautiful album. Not a masterpiece IMO, but still beautiful. (Masterpiece to me is an album that everyone should own).

Most of the songs are great, but I've never liked the flow of the album. It seems like these songs would have been done more justice if they were used in different settings.

To give an example, Raspberry Baret would have blended better with the songs on Sign O' The Times, or Tamborine on Parade. Pop Life would have fitted on Diamonds And Pearls etc. etc.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
