ARTIST AGAIN CALLED PRINCE GOES NORTH

IS Prince tired of America? The paisley-clad pop artist has plunked down $10 million for a mansion in Toronto, we're told, and plans to move there for good. "He and his wife Manuela are bolting Minneapolis for Canada," our spy says. Perhaps the move is motivated by the fact that Prince is having a heck of a time finding a distributor for his new album, "News," a jazz and funk compilation. "Prince has burned almost all of his bridges," a music insider tells us. "When he left Warner Bros. he badmouthed them and did the same to Clive Davis when he left Arista. He is known to be a pain in the [bleep]. So no record company will deal with him." Another problem is the "jazz/funk" slant of the CD. "Let's be honest - no one is running out right now to buy a jazz/funk album," the source sneered. So Prince is now said to be working on a deal with Amazon.com to distribute the disc on the Web site - just as the Eagles are trying to do. But the one bright spot may be a planned appearance on Jay-Z's record, "Black Album," due out in the fall. Prince's reps did not return calls.

if he's having such a hard time finding distributors, then how come all the major stores around the globe already have News for sale on their web sites? Journalists should really do their homework before making such crappy comments.

And wow! Their "spy" is sure up on things reporting that Prince and Mani bought a mansion in Canada and might move there!! I'd never heard that news before!

In 1999 I heard a story about Prince on the radio and I started a thread on the old org and a couple of weeks later my thread showed up in the New York Post almost word for word. They didn't contact me or anything so I could have easily made up my story or the person on the radio could have made it up.

Anyone who likes N.E.W.S. and the current Prince is gonna get defensive about this article, which I find to be correct. Is there any doubt that Prince is a pain in the ass? Anyone who pays attention will see how the Record biz is.
Now,Prince has badmouthed WB & Clive but it was/is truth,just as no one will buy a Prince jazz album.

Nothing against the album,I like it ,but NOTHING is selling but rap and bubble gum boy/girl bands.

As to the RESPECT issue, you will not see the reporters badmouth the industry because the "reporter" wants the exclusive interview,or to get the "new" album before everyone else so their review will be read first.So don't believe the hype.

It would have been easier for Prince to play the game (Madonna) & put out a record "like SOTT" or to "re-invent" themselves time and time again.He could put out "real" shit albums and still have glossy reviews in Rolling Stone & NY Post or have a book written about him saying he is the second coming.

Prince did not want to play the game so he has to face the consequences.

Read and understand, people who don't like N.E.W.S do not have to desert Prince or move on.Can't they just dislike his current music?
