Hey Detroiters...? How many of you listen to V98.7 radio station? My mother, whose only pupose right now, is to steal my NEWS disc, settled for borrowing! my Xpectation CD. She gave it a couple of spins and said that she had already heard most of the smooth jazz album on V98.7.
I said to myself, "really?" I don't listen to radio much nowadays, being that it's so repetitive it will make you scream. So I hadn't noticed if Xpectation was getting alot of play on our local Jazz stations. Or quite possibly my mother has Prince confused with someone else. When I first heard Xpectation, I thought it sounded like something that would be played on that station. If any of you Motor Babies have noticed this, let me know. Maybe I'll give some stations a second chance. And I'll definetly bug the DJ during request time. Thanx Blue "WEST!" Blue

Yeah, I think I read it somewhere here on the org that Xogenous was played right around the time we downloaded it off the net on WGPR.
I have not listened to either station in a while -- gotta take a listen. Also heard that 90.9 likes to play a one-hour block of Prince every now and then.

Yup. . .that was me that posted about Xogenous being played on WGPR. V98.7 is NOT playing ANY Prince. They are owned by Infinity Broadcasting and play pretty much the same monotonous stuff day in and day out. I think The Blue Prince's mom was probably getting WGPR mixed up with V98 because WGPR claims that they're the "jazzy one". Actually, they play a lot of neo-soul, R&B new and old and some "smooth" (ugh, hate that term) jazz during the day. They are all old school R&B and funk on Saturdays, gospel on Sundays and more traditional jazz in the late night hours. But the COOLEST thing about WGPR is it is probably the only radio station (besides WDET public radio) that still plays new music by LOCAL artists (in their format, of course).
