I started thinking about this because years ago I read an interview with jazz musician Winston Marsalis and he flamed Prince. I can't recall one nice thing he said about him, just playa hatin' to the bone!

I remember being so heated that I started to draft a response letter to send to the paper it appeared in. I wanted to give him the verbal equivalent of a serious ass kicking! But, I guess trying to be really mean and nasty was exhausting, so I never sent it. Recently, I tried searching for the article online, but couldn't find anything. (I'm pretty sure it was printed in the early 80's but I can't remember the paper it appeared in so... )

I'm curious. Do any of his peers (folks in the biz) speak ill of him? I mean, people besides disgruntled proteges and ex-band members. You know, other musicians?

I have that article at home Deb. Wynton basically thought P was a perv and he made reference to the song Sister. He said something along the lines of the song was a reference to P having anal sex with his sister. Shows how much attention he was paying.

Every now and then you'll hear artists talk about what an asshole he is, like with the Trent Reznor hallway pass.

I remember that article too.In the 80s,Wynton routinely dissed Prince in interviews.I wonder what he thinks of Prince these days (now that P plays alot of jazz and all)?
