ONA JAPAN

Recently I was listening to ONA Tokyo, where Prince plays a drum intro. 2 Questions for people who were there:

1. Throughout the drum intermission, there is a voice, that is telling something in Japanese (?). What exactly is the voice saying?

2. I really wonder how John took over the drums from Prince without any interruption. Was it overdubbed? A sample after all?

Thanx for your help...

Yeah, but on this one it must have be even more difficult, because he was hitting that snare real fast (drum roll)...

Don't all your answers but I'll tell u what I know ...

The voice is a sample on one of the electronic drum pads and Prince was hitting them during his solo. As to what they are saying, I couldn't tell you. Something in Japanese Duh lol

2. I really wonder how John took over the drums from Prince without any interruption. Was it overdubbed? A sample after all?

Blackwell had his own drumsticks - that's all, that explains how they exchanged without missing a beat, they just kept the roll going. No overdubs, no samples. IT'S ALL LIVE !

Your answer to question #2 could be seen in the Vegas DVD as it was Prince, then Sheila, then Blackwell doing the continuous drum solo, IIRC.

have the show on dvd, and it certainly isn't overdubbed, just swapping, like shelia and prince did in sign o the times. if u are a good drummer, u can catch the beat before it trips up the song

very good dvd, actually have 2, one from the opening night, and the closing night, both really good quality and great sound..
