S'Like, This Is My Other Paisley Party Report....and it's long, too! hello once again, dahlings!!!
welp...i just got back from the 2nd installment of the paisley party, and what can i say? here's le scoop: me n'the kitties arrived at the park a little before midnight or so. conversation peace wuz playin awready once we stepped in. they're awright n'all, but the thing about it that kinna struck me odd is that the majority of their tunes consisted of covers of old-skool funk songs (more on these in a sec)...they did a couple of jazzy numbers as well, a couple instrumentals. and now, for the cover tunes they did (these ain't in order): ---> roberta flack, "feel like makin' love" ---> parliament, "(not just) knee deep" ---> marvin gaye, "inner city blues" ---> a couple of jill scott tunes (this one sista came up and sang on those...don't ask me which tunes cuz i dunno) ---> slave, "slide" ...i got bored with all that real quick cuz it's like, "why ain't you guys playin more original material? i could go home and pull this stuff out on my record player, y'know!?" after their set wuz finished, a bit of the las vegas dvd wuz shown once again like last night but more of it wuz played. prince made himself present once again, albeit briefly this time--it wuz so funny, cuz i had turned towards the door to look at sumfin and all the sudden he came strollin in towards the soundboard...like the shit wuz on cue! (ladies: brotha had on a black suit, nuffin excitin...just looked cute and in need of a fatburger, like always ) once again, me and my fellow kitties left early...turns out we didn't miss anything, cuz about 5 or so minutes after we left, it wuz closin time at paisley, basically. tonight wasn't as fun as last night, imho. but still, it wuz nice that ol' boy opened up the doors for a couple nights in a row. for ya'll out-of-towners, have a safe trip home and hopefully sumfin else will happen soon at the park once again...for all my fellow orgers who i seen again tonight, nice seein ya'll in the flesh--speakin of which...minneapolisgenius, were you there? cuz i wuz lookin for ya... ...that's it, folks. i'm takin my red bull-hyped up ass to bed now, cuz i'm worn out from standin all night long. p.s. thank yew prince for the two nights...and you owe me $5 bux. and ummm....you rock ruff n'stuff with yo coco-puff (heyyyyy...rock on wit' yo bad self...) snickers... major feedback edit [This message was edited Sat Jul 12 2:39:56 PDT 2003 by Handclapsfingasnapz]

good report kitty!
I have not much more to say. Tonite was fun, but not as much as last nite. Still, I ain't complaining cos he finally let us all back in AND gave enough notice for some people to roll in from outta town. I've met some great people the past few nites and just been diggin on the Paisley vibe... I still can't believe the metal detectors gone...pure craziness...HE TRUSTS US FINALLY

In some respects, to me, it sounds like these past 2 nights were his way of recompensing for the lack of a Celebration this year!!! :LOL;

in a way, I think it was. sadly it was much too short. only 2 nites to meet new friends, see old friends, bond quick and say goodbye. But, whatevs 2 is better than nothing!

Thanks again Dansa.
Wow no metal detectors!!! I wonder what's up wit dat. I just hope that something funky comes a little later in the year. Even with this this advance notice, it was just a little to quick to hop on a plane and take off for Paisley land. BTW: How many people were there? More than the night before? And can someone give a detailed description of the DVD. Peace Yall **************************************************

And can someone give a detailed description of the DVD. Peace Yall there were a little bit more people last night than the night before...i'd say between 50-60+, the place wuz pretty full. we were surprised when we pulled up to the parkin lot and how full it wuz, cuz thursday night the parkin lot wuz only 1/4 full. as for the dvd...i can't really give a detailed description of how it is, cuz not much wuz shown both nights. what i will say is this: the camera work is a lot betta than the camera work for the rave dvd. oddest thing about the vegas joint is that it looks like it wuz mostly shot with a hand-held camera, so it's really kinna-sorta intimate lookin at some points. hopefully i'm clear on that cuz it's hard to explain for me...it's one of those "you gotta see it"-type things. ya'll will see once the dvd's available, it's pretty nice.

yeah, a friend of mine had mentioned that... BTW, can you tell us what songs from the DVD have been played?
Thanks! quick list: 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 (switched up into "love rollercoaster" at one point) gotta broken heart again strange relationship pass the peas (w/ maceo--can't say much for this cuz i left once this started up)

The DVD...
- 1+1+1=3 (with a little bit of Love Rollercoaster) - Strollin/Gotta Broken Heart Again - Pass the Peas - Strange Relationship - Whole Lotta Love I have to say that I actually really liked what I saw. Sometimes Prince's video productions leave something to be desired, but from what I saw, the Vegas show was looking really good. 1+1+1=3 was funky with Prince pulling people from the Vegas audience to come up on stage and dance. Strollin was nice and smooth. Pass the Peas had Maceo getting funky and at one point Sheila E is walking across the strange tapping and dragging a cymbal behind her...crazy. Strange Relationship reminded me alot of the One Night Alone Live version. And Whole Lotta Love was this crazy psychadelic cover of Zeppelin.

Perhaps it's cause I think the song quality of ONA Live is in a whole different league, but I'm excited for it to come out now. I like the hand-held "indie-film" camera work, but THAT piece mayget a bit annoying by the end. All in all, though, it looks like it's going to be a GREAT dvd.

Hey Handclaps, thanks for the report, and no I didn't make it out there. Mostly because I just didn't want to pay over $40 for the cab ride. But hopefully there will be more opportunities coming up.

could be both...but i'm leanin more towards the latter. then again, there have been times where we've been wanded at the door and what-not and p didn't play at all...like the last party before these two ones, i think we were wanded and p didn't play...

Did they at least pat you down? Because after the big metal decetor broke often times they would just pat us down. You could often tell if there was going to be a performance by how thorough the pat down was. I am sorry that I missed the parties, but I am glad that I didn't do anything crazy like skip work or show up at my race with no sleep since he didn't perform.

nope, we weren't even patted down...we just stepped in, paid our $7 bux and went in, basically.
