hmm sort of got stuff off friends...hmm purple rain was the first whole album i got...

I seem to always 2 b poor (woe is me - the life of a student) and so now am just trying 2 collect everything, 1 by 1 - each time i get a decent pay i buy something else!!

Nothing wrong with P's later music - i think i currently have mostly 90's stuff and i love it!

the first album i bought was Parade.
I had to buy this album because i had the 12 inch of Mountains and i loved it and was curious about the rest of the album.
The first thing i heard of prince was 1999, i loved that video.(and still do)

I first heard prince at a friends house and it was the Around the world in a day album thought it was pretty cool
so I begged my mum 2 buy it 4 me but when we got 2 the shop they didnt have any.But they did have anotherloverholinyohead single so she brought it me but I still had 2 wait till Christmas day 2 hear it. but it was worth the wait and ive been hooked ever since

From purple rain until The Hits I heard them all in the order of appearance. Then during th O-> years i discovered dirty mind and controversy and later 1999, then I started brushing up on O-> stuff...

I was sat on a bus in Crete when a girl sat next to me asked me to listen to some songs of SOTT...I got a little interested and then she asked me to buy her the Lovesexy album for her birthday. This was back in day when things were bought on vinyl...so I had to check it first to make sure it wasn't scratched...needless to say, me and Prince are still together...the girl on the bus? Nope.

I remember hearing Little Red Corvette and 1999 on Saturday afternoons (Radio 1 - Paul Gambocinni (sp?) playing the US Top40) and really liking them.

The WDC single was the first P record I bought, closely followed by Purple Rain the album.

Bought every album since then and then around the time of SOTT went and bought all pre Purple Rain albums.

Have got everything officially released since (except for the NPG stuff) and am now straying into bootleg territory.

Seems that the addiction only gets worse!

Bought Purple rain after renting it on video for about 12 weeks running. Then Parade and then ATWIAD, The wrong order but it was interesting to hear the difference in styles.

I then bought the back catalogue and the rest in order of release.

i went 2 the store 2 get Purple Rain...when i saw the cover of Dirty Mind...WOW THIS MUST SOUND SO GOOD!

so i got both, but the 1st one i listened 2 was Dirty Mind (my fav)...

I heard my friends Dawn's albumn when i was like in the 3rd grade and we watched Purple Rain together. It was her brothers video..

Now that i come to think of it.. That movie was rated R i think.. what were 8 year old girls doing watching that movie anyway...???

The first album I ever heard in it's entirety was either "Controversy" or "Prince". My sister received "Controversy" one Christmas. I believe my father found a copy of "Prince"...I loved it from start to finish!

The 'Prince' album.My mother was raving about a song that she had heard at a friend's house.The song is "Still Waiting".A few days later,she goes out and buys the album.None of us knew anything about Prince.This was in 1980 and I've been a fan ever since.



Why do I feel like I've told this story before?

I heard a lot of Prince's albums before I really "heard" a Prince album. The album that totally changed me was the Gold Experience. It completely chanmged the way I played drums and listened to music. Michael Bland is one of the most talented and nicest men I've jammed with. Did I mention he is a big dude? Monster!

The 1st 1 that i remember listening 2 is "Dirty Mind"

My friend got me into Prince in college. . .My first album I got was Diamonds & Pearls . I'm not sure what all came after that, but within a couple of years I had the whole back catalog. . .

The first full album of Prince I heard was Purple Rain way back in 84, when I was 10.

It was also the first Prince album I bought.

It was the SIGN O THE TIMES Movie.And then i went and bought the album.Next was Purple Rain.
