Jeez Louise what a book. Prince a drug addict, Prince a Jew hater, a homophobe. Prince dissing D'angelo and Questlove. Prince suing web sights. Prince fucking woman left and right, but claiming to be religious. Man, this Prince is over. He is a bum, and I can only shake my head, and hope that in the future, the man get's his head together. For now, I hide from Prince.

Don't let Alex Hahn change the way you see Prince. This guy has to sensationalize everything about Prince in order to attract readers and sell books. People think Prince is a mystery/enigma and if someone has written a tell-all book then they are going to read it because Prince has been so reclusive and secretive for so many years. I'm sure there is some truth to some of what Mr. Hahn has written, but keep in mind that everything has been over blown to sell the book. Most of us have tried drugs. Most musicians have slepted with numerous different people. Prince is not that different from the rest. He is struggling with his religious beliefs and he probably always will. He is man, not a God like some would like to believe. He is not perfect and he's made many mistakes and will make more throughout his life. He is only human.

Prince is not some angelic being that just fell out of the sky one day with a guitar in his hand.Im sure the guy made alot of mistakes along the way.I have been a diehard prince fan ever since I was 14, I am now 40. After years and years of following Prince's career, you soon begin to learn what is true, and what is not.I have read Alex Hahn's book, and I'm afraid to say that I believe (IMO) that this book is at least 99.9% accurate. You have to remember alot of this information came from the band members (poor Rosie Gaines)themselves. Although, I didn't understand things like the name change,and the split with Warners,I have come to expect things like this from Prince. He's a musical genius,and genius's usually are eccentric. I for one will always listen to prince's music because he is the most influentual musician of our day and time,but only because of the music.

The books that i just named have different view points on Prince. Why is it that evryone is acting like this is the only book out there on P, so it MUST be 100% correct? NO book is, NO book ever will be.

I don't know about you, but I don't believe everything I read (hell even D.M.S.R. doesn't tell everything the way it really was).

You're entitled to your own opinion, but you shouldn't believe everything you read, if so, you'll only get half of the picture.

Or ask Eric Leeds, who is also accurately quoted in the Hahn book, and who says he never got paid for any of the Emancipation sessions.

I find it endlessly amusing how nobody cares about any of the musicians who were under contract to Prince and were kept from releasing records on their own (Margie Cox, Jill Jones) and nobody cares about the musicians who never got paid for their studio time with P on certain albums (Rosie Gaines, Eric Leeds)...yet if the situation were reversed and P was the one getting screwed, the same people who overlook these things would be screaming bloody murder.

Oh well. I think it was a fairly interesting read...not great, but better than nothing. And Savannah is absolutely right...if there was ANYthing in that book that was a lie, Prince would have sued.

And I didn't need Hahn's book to tell me that Prince has written some EXTREMELY questionable lyrics in the last few years, especially in regards to Jews. Duh.

I read the book, too, and the most disappointing thing I learned about Prince is the he has to surround himself with yes-men because he doesn't want anyone disagreeing with him. That's not a great trait.

The other thing is the Revolution was his most creative period because of the salon he encouraged with the bandmembers. Now he doesn't do that. Too bad.

It'll be interesting to see where Prince's music develops from this point. "Rainbow Children" was the best thing he's done recently. Maybe it's a sign of things to come.

Dammit, I'm pissed; Bonnie Boyer was so well payed by Prince that she died broke, and her family had to raise money to buy a fucking coffin. Just for that Prince should get his little ass kicked.

Remember, Prince was seen in the studio with Larry discussing how Jew meant "black", or that Wendy and Lisa had to appologize for their lifestyles, before he would ever work with them again.

Rosie wasn't payed for Emancipation, or Chaos And Disorder. Prince didn't defend her when Tony M made fun of her size. Prince saying out loud after a Rosie spat: "This must be her time of the month."

Prince saying at a ONA concert that his only real fans joined the NPGMC.

Not giving songwriting credit to Morris Day, who basically wrote, Party-up, and Andre Cymone for Uptown and screwing Wendy, Lisa and Doctor Fink out of song writing credit. Making assorted engineer and other staff work 24 hour shifts, not letting them see their families.

Making fans stand out in the cold for 6 hours, while letting celebrity friends in the front door.

Assorted stupid comments like, "I'm number one at the bank", "only my enemies call me Prince", "Let's just say, I'm manogamous with God", At a club, a fan walks up to Prince, gushing, "Prince, I really love your music." Prince replies, "And your point is?" He is asked in another club to sign something, Prince doesn't even look at the fan, only the bodyguard tells the fan, "He doesn't do autographs." So many more, so little time.

You can defend P all you want, but if this were a friend, you would have dropped them years ago.
