Why did he have Morris call him a "long-haired faggot" in Purple Rain?

I think it was all an act to appeal to as broad a fanbase as possible.

He could bring blacks, whites, gays, and straights into his fanbase by doing little things to appeal to each group.

Huh? You thought Morris calling him a faggot would appeal to gay men? confuse

Prince dressed as a transvestite for most of his career. But then again, many transvestites are generally straight. Somewhere in the back of their minds they get gratification by crossing gender lines; nothing to do with nature, just the expectations we place on men and women - how we expect them to dress and act.

If Prince despised the homosexual community he wouldn't have befriended people like Wendy & Lisa, not to mention ChiChi LaRue.

Early in his career, while singing "Am I black or white? Am I straight or gay?", Prince's reluctance to answer those questions directly was sometimes interpereted as saying "why should it matter?".

With his shift in beliefs it wouldn't suprise me if he began making anti-gay remarks. But thus far he hasn't publicly. Maybe he doesn't have anything against us, or perhaps he's downright afraid to say it. He would easily loose half of his already small fanbase if he ever began comdeming gays.

But if thats what he feels, I'd rather he say it, and say it loud, and get it over with.

Aside from the fact he is an outstanding musician, poet, singer, songwriter, fams are drawn to Prince because of the search to so many questions about this world and life itself. Can you relate?

No, no, I don't think Prince dressed as or like a transvestite, nah.

If not he'd have plastic boobs under his shirts, right? Or lipstick JUST LIKE a woman, c'mon now, you know what a transvestite really dresses up like.

He's just out there and unique. The heels, well, the height, the hair, well, only he can look good doin' it, the clothes, again only he...the make up, Glam Rock but Glam Funk in his case.

The high voice? Soul, Blues...it's a black thing. Others don't get it.

It's a Pretty Man thing.

How many open minded Straight guys do you know that wear High Heals, & Make Up? Thats usually the Gay route~

But since we are fans, we think differently~

What planet do you live on? I don't see gay men walking around in high heels and make up, you need to put down the joint and get a breath of fresh air.

My Original Point was that if Prince has a problem now with

the Gay Lifestyle being wrong or offensive, then he should

come "OUT" with it. And at the same time be offended by his

Own former Image and the Momey "It" Still Generates For Him.

Geeezzz how can he live with himself or even pay the

Bills now that he is so Biblicly Correct ?

But Prince if you don't feel this way then C___O___O___L

When Joan Rivers hosted the Tonight Show back in the day she was interviewing Vanity. She asked Vanity if Prince was Gay? Vanity imediately said NO! Definately NOT!
Joan Replied Back : OH PLEASE!!! HE MAKES MICHAEL JACKSON LOOK LIKE A GREEN BARET!!! The Audience Roars!!!

Prince Screamed Very Tallented FAG back then~

So Lets Watch And Listen Because He Might Do Or Say Something Controversial~ The There Came A Time When The General Public Lost Interest.

Prince Used That Image To Draw People Into The Music. And It worked. At The Cost Of A Lot Of People Thinking He Really Is A Fag.

Those People Are Wrong For Thinking That Way But That Is Reality Folks.

Prince Is Still Making Money From Those Days. And At the Same Time Preaching Against Those Images. And Ways...

Who Cares? I am Just Pointing Out That Homoerotic Behavior Did Factor Into Princes Fame. Not completely but it certainly did and probably always will. No matter how much he changes.

Homoerotic Lyrics:

Uptown- Girl Shes Just A "MAN", U Know? She Even Made Love 2 Me, Best Thing I Ever Had, I Never Talk 2 Strangers But This Time Its Alright. She Got Me Hot, I could'nt Stop, Good Times were Rollin All Night, All Night, Yeh~
Everybody Drag, Its All About Being Free!

Head - As Far As I Knew Was a term for Sucking Dick~

Jack U Off - Physical Action Done 2 Dick~

These were controversial songs because these were terms that were commonly used discribing sexual deeds done 2 Dick~

How Famous Did Prince Get For These Lyrics? How many people were first introduced to Prince with this music?

Giving or Getting "HEAD" is the act of oral sex itself. Whether it's eating pussy or sucking dick. Watch porn, okay...

Also, 2 "Jack" someone off doesn'e just mean 2 masturbate a male. The way I grew up and the way it was used around me (among friends and in school), it meant the act of masturbation itself. I would have girls ask me 2 jack them off, meaning "let's play stink-finger!"

How can anyone deny that homosexuality had a part in his image/music?
You could say that their was no homosexuality in Hollywood films of the 20s-50s but there was, it was hinted at and gestured at but it was never directly acknowledged. We can look back now and see it clearly.

The cover of Dirty Mind doesn't say shit but "I make and live by my own rules. Fuck Sociey." If I walk around the house in a robe and my draws, does it make me gay/homoerotic? Nope. It means I'm comfortable. Prince has said that he wore those clothes because it was what he was comfortable in. He said he hated wearing clothes. The things he did/does doesn't make him gay or weird or strange, and anyone who thinks any different missed the whole concept of the "Dirty Mind" album/era. In "Uptown" he says "Where I come from, we don't give a DAMN, we do WHATEVER we please." In "New Power Generation", he says "I can't help if what's cool 2 us might be strange 2 U"

"If I was your girlfriend" is Prince simply trying 2 reach the same level of personal honesty and commitment that his girlfriend has with her best friend. Alot of women call their female friends their "girlfriends", not meaning it in a homosexual manner. Prince is just saying, If I was as close 2 U as HER, your best friend, your GIRLFRIEND, would U still do this and that as your boyfriend. Read between the lines, kay?

Right, I think there is a sophistication that jocks miss. And that's all about individuality, walking your own walk, no matter what the "RULES" of society have placed on people.

If he wishes to put on make-up for the cover of Lovesexy tour book, that's a Glam thing, David Bowie style, it's based on the history of Rock n Roll, the freedom from tight asses, conservatives, religeous zealots, sheep. If he's confused for being gay, that says something about the inner person that the person who confused him as gay has.

I never saw it that way. Not unless he broke his wrist and talked with a lithp, then maybe, but, again, it's about the FUNK.

Well, sure, a lot of the public did think he was gay, but I don't think that's the majoir factor that got him to sell records and make money.

One of my friends's uncles, who was a complete homophobe, thought he was gay and still bought "1999" thru "lovesexy". Alot of the jocks at my high school thought he was a sissy and still went to see "purple rain".

His image did draw people in---the openminded, the freaks ect.
But face it, the avergae joe went out and bought "purple rain"

if anything, "looking gay" took away from his fanbase ( mostly in the 90s), think about it, you tell someone you like Prince, somethimes you're gonna get a remark about him being gay and dismissing him.
