Prince so needs a new guitarist in his touring band!!!! Fellow Prince Fans,
After seeing (and loving) the most recent One Nite Alone shows I came away with just one real complaint - Prince needed another guitarist to fill in the live sound which alot of times was a little thin, especially on the songs that featured just keys, bass, and drums. Also, if there's a secong guitarist, it'll free him up more to dance and interact with the crowd. What do ya'll think? Soladeo1

Felt totally the opposite mate. Thought the band sounded great and LOVED the fact that P played all the guitar. Apart from Santana P's the best!

Wasn't an issue for me.

From the shows I witnessed and have listened to, I didn't think the sound came across as thin, even on those songs where Prince was on the Rhodes. It wasn't a show where he wanted to showcase any dancing (and I don't have any real expectations of that happening much, if ever, in the future), and he ineteracted with the audience plenty (there are some who have said too much - but I think that's down to content rather than the amount of interaction). a rhythm guitarist was missed by me too, but an adequate female singer even more.
I love Rhonda, but she's not a very good singer...

Backup rhythm guitarists might have been nice, but they sounded awesome to me! "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan

Yeah he needs to bring back Wendy (and Lisa)! There, I said it before anyone else could.

I've been saying this same thing since Mike Scott left the band.
If Prince would hire a guitarist (Mike would be best) then he could stick to solos and chordal fills which he excels at.

I agree with Lovemachine. Mike Scott is the sh@t! There's room for Prince to still play a lot of guitar.

hmmm i prefer Prince doing all the guitar work live. i mean, if you asked me, on all the albums and live shows (during the 90s anyway) that he had a second guitarist, he was lazy and just danced around like a fool.

i dunno. not after Prince tugged on his red cape during Rave Un2 The Year 2000 and told him to "wait, wait!". watch it tonight. Mikey is outta here! he don't need no little midget in a fucking blue sparkly cat suit to talk to him like that. see ya!

Let Prince handle all the git-fiddle, I don't mind - I can't get enough of the stuff. But I guess it couldn't hurt to bring in a rhythm guitarist to let the man noodle around and improvise more - that certainly wouldn't suck.

P does just fine with a bassist, drummer, keyboardist & himself on guitar.
but if any other guitarist would play rhythm,i'd pick Levi or Miko www.riotcitywrestling.com

Prince shouldn't have just tugged his cape, he should have kicked his ass! Mike was doing his faux Benson thing right through and over Maceo's solo! (iirc)
Anyway, I was SO happy that P was the only guitarist on this tour! Now we got to hear lots of his rhythm playing and little fills.
