I actually love both...imo I cant compare the two. True, both are acoustic albums...but they are different by the instrument leading the acoustics. One Nite Alone is the so-called "piano album," right? and The Truth is the equivalent "guitar album." I think a compilation of his guitar standards treated in this fashion would be fantastic -- gimme an acoustic kiss!
One Nite Alone... Live! is my favorite because we were treated to a stripped down set of some better loved hits... it is interesting that he called this tour One Nite Alone... Live!, though, because it seemed that the tour really wasn't about ONA as much as it was about The Rainbow Children. I never got to experience the ONA tour in person, did Prince actually play more of that album than what is recorded on the box set?
If we'd been treated to a similar live rendition of The Truth with the inevitable alternate treatments of various hits then who knows? I bet it would've been as cool as the other side of the pillow! La, la, la

I have to say not only is The Truth one of my favorites..
But it is very crafty and unique for an acoustic album.. ONA wasn't even a nice try.. i mean, i struggle not to say that any Prince music sucks.. but this little tickle of the ivories didn't leave me smiling. | |

I'd pick The Truth, its raw, experimental,and a few great moments that makes u remember to pop it in. ONA has some beautiful songs, but the real weight lies within the title track. The album itself lacks more complex playin and songs. | |

Anything with Animal Kingdom on it will lose everytime. One Night Alone wins! Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council. | |
