I mean, when you come right down to it, we're all here because of the music. But Ms. Kiki, I'm not talking about your kind. You don't create an unnecessarily, unpleasant atmosphere with every other word you speak. If anything, you love your certain Prince eras, such as The Revolution, but you're still curious and open about what's going to happen next. The nice thing is that you're respectful and cool to others, like many others here.
The only reason I'm highlighting this issue is because in a community like this, it's very easy for idiots to feel like they are achieving something worthwhile, by maliciously spreading their discontent (rooted in their own issues with their own lives, not Prince's). Some fans seriously have their own problems, but reflect that on Prince's business and vent them in an online fan community where they are given free license to do so. Of course, at times critiscm is warranted but there is a means to being constructive, if you really care. Why do you think theblueangel's a/c was temporarily suspended from the NPGMC? It's not about freedom of speech, it's about respect. Like I said before, some people really are too fucking dumb, or poorly brought up, to get it. Think about it, people actually label themselves here as Fiverpercenter, or EvilWhiteMale. Does that sound healthy to you? Like another friend said, feed the masses a sex-obsessed, base rockstar (who just so happens to have the funk licks) and you're left with so called fans crying about The Rainbow Children or N.E.W.S. because it doesn't sound like what they know. or think is good. The unfortunate thing is that we're left to deal with the cry babies.

Anji said: Do you think Prince is still an optimist? It's surprising that even now (when he wants to retire from the public eye), he still has to deal with such bullshit amongst many of his own so-called fans e.g. Alex Hahn. I'm surprised that he manages to put up with it, and still want to share his most personal gift - the music. And as for anyone who thinks it would be 'beneficial' for Prince to go on talk shows such as Howard Stern, you simply do not understand what Prince has or wants to offer us.
I'm not sure I would be too happy in his shoes, knowing how some of his following think. The sad thing is, I already know what some of you fools are going to say. Given that you still come here, take a moment to think about what you are actually saying. Perhaps, you shouldn't be here afterall. And you say you want a Celebration? To celebrate what exactly? You spend almost all your time here behaving as miserable, low life, fucks. We all know who you are. The question is, do you know what you've become? It's amusing how you try to paint a picture of anyone who crtiticizes Prince as some miserable low-life who's bottomed out. Simply because they say something that ruffles your feathers, you have to tack on a bunch of other awful assumptions about them. I think if you met many of us in person you would get a major reality check. Instead of playing a part-time psychologist, trying to read everyone on here, maybe you should go see one yourself. As for the "what would prince think if he saw this" notion, any artist who cant listen to, consider, and learn from criticism as well as praise, is a damned fool.

Optimist. He makes goals and achieves them. He won some and lost some but he never gave up! “A poor man waited a thousand years before the gate of paradise. And, while he snatched a little sleep, it opened and shut.”

Simply because they say something that ruffles your feathers, you have to tack on a bunch of other awful assumptions about them. I think if you met many of us in person you would get a major reality check. The constant manner in which they are dissatisfied with Prince, or the constant manner in which they bait on issues of race, religion or sexual preference, or the constant manner in which they expect their every wish to be met. Whatever their issues might be, the point is they'll still have those issues with or without Prince. So why blame or vent through Prince? They are the root of their problems but they don't fucking get it. I've 'seen' enough of their manner here to not ever want to meet such people in person, reality check or not. Besides, they're bound to be the most ugly people in the crowd, who'd wanna hang around that?
Instead of playing a part-time psychologist, trying to read everyone on here, maybe you should go see one yourself. For what? Being turned off by people who place themselves annoyingly in everyone else's space, including mine? I don't think so.
As for the "what would prince think if he saw this" notion, any artist who cant listen to, consider, and learn from criticism as well as praise, is a damned fool. The NPGMC improved this year, and about time I think we'd both agree. However, there's a significant difference in terms of how we presented our thoughts back then to bring abiut the change. You quit your whining here now, Tom?

Anji,
Why wouldn't I get excited about a Paisley party? I'm a huge Prince fan, DUH. Stymie explained why my access to the club this year was temporarily (we're talking a couple of hours) suspended. Someone had posted that they didn't join until after the "Reflection" song was put up in the Reflection room, so I offered to send it to them, b/c I LOOOVE that song and wanted others to hear it...especially other paying members. I didn't realize that was against the rules, since we're talking about someone who paid their dues just like the rest of us. However, since the Paisleys explicitly made it clear to me that was not acceptable behavior, I haven't done anything like that since...or at least I haven't talked about it in the club. [That's called owning up to one's behavior, Anji...you might want to give it a whirl.] For the record, I've had conversations by PM with the main Paisleys (you know which ones I mean) and although they feel that sometimes I am rude and brash, they also respect and acknowledge my immense love for the music. I'm not in the least bit ashamed or afraid to say who I am. I'm someone who has vocally and financially supported Prince's art for going on 20 years, and I will continue to do so. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Prince is still an optimist! The older and more mature he gets he makes wisers choices that he benefits from. (Example: becoming independent from a record co. and making the majority of the money he deserves from sales! The pessimists are those same fools (they know who they are , or maybe they don't) who have the nerve to still check a prince forum daily, talk a grip of shiznit and then conjure up dreams of seeing Prince on a ShockJock radio show. That's backwards ass, IMO. Prince is still dedicated to the music. That's good for the ones like some of us who really appreciate it! I am personally in between OPTI & PESSI... I am pejimistic. Hard to explain, but it's a pimp thang... -------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I know Charles. I usually am quite ambivalent to all the naysayers too but sometimes I think things need to be put into perspective and this was my way of doing it. It's very difficult to make sense to the kind of people I accuse of being irrational and abusive, unless you present the ideas in ways that make sense to them. Sometimes lowering the tone does serve a purpose, even if it's not the preferred option.
