In 1992,Prince released an album that had no real title.He used an unpronouncable symbol as it's title.Many critics referred to the album as "Love Symbol",which seems to be the commonly accepted title (based on how many fans refer to it as that).I've also seen people in the media refer to the album as "Androgyny" (the symbol is,after all,a mixture of the male and female symbols).Some critics didn't even bother trying to figure out what to call the album.They simply referred to it as "Untitled".


Let's assume that,Prince presented this project to Warners and they absolutely INSISTED that he come up with a pronouncable title for the album.What song do you think would sum up the project as a whole? Or,actually,it doesn't even have to be a song from the album (many albums do not have title tracks).Pick any word or phrase that best describes the whole rock soap opera story.


My pick? It's really tempting to choose "Three Chains O Gold" as the title,but for a Prince album,that sounds kinda corny,imo.What do you think?

My feeling is,perhaps even Prince was confused about what to call this album? The album has a big storyline and the songs cover alot of ground,so how do you come up with one word or phrase to sum it all up? Maybe he felt it was best just to go with a symbol.

and almost every P.-album has a song-title as the album-title.

But i would have liked "The Crown-princess of Cairo" or "Mayte 16"

as a b-side, and my copy says "...taken from the

I mean, they did have one for the album , so why
shouldn´t they have one for a single that came out
much later ? Some folks at the factory probably
didn´t know what they were doing when they wrote
"Love Symbol". Or Warner Bros. were so pissed that
they didn´t really care any longer.
