r-wilder i'm like you. most of my prince covers tend to sound more like me than him. i'll use his basic arrangement and add my own influence-style to it. back in his early days when i did his material i'd try to carbon copy it (vocally anyway) but found i prefer doing my own take on his songs. the lower register ones in his catalog are fairly easy. the falsetto ones were easier back when i was younger and could hit the high notes pretty good. now its a bit tougher. i will say anything from the first 3 albums (where he used his falsetto exclusively) is good vocal practice! (i used to love singing "gonna be lonely,do it all night, still waiting,baby,dirty mind and one of the highest ones he ever did..."gotta stop messin' about'...those were the days!!!)
