Did Prince Write Manic Monday???

I know it was originaly writtend 4 Apollonia 6 and then offered 2 The Bangles. But the track doesn't sound like a Prince-song at all.

Any infos on the track?

On a side note, I heard the Bangles originally wanted the name "The Bagels" but it was already being used but another prospectful band.

You're so right, it does sound like DWD.

Its just I know that I heard this song b4 in the radio but I couldn't tell who that person is. Very exotic move from Prince indeed!

Prince wrote it for the Apollonia 6 lP, but they turned it down and replaced for Mr.Christian, which is the weekest track on the whole lp, what a stupid decision 2 make, Apollonia 6 would've had 2 hits 2 their name instead of just one nod

"Mr. Christian" a weak track? I think not. I think it worked better than their cover of "Manic Monday".

I think both "Mr. Christian" and their version of "Manic Monday" are good, and had 'hit potential'. (i also think "Mr. Christian" was better than "Manic Monday")
The weakest tracks are "in a spanish villa"(selena would cringe) and "ooh she she wa wa". The best is easily 'blue limousine'.

i never noticed it until a critic mentioned itbut it so does!!

its in the same timing and very similar melody, most likely why prince didnt use it himself really.

Apollonia didn't turn it down...Prince took it back.
Take me With U and 17 Days were also originally gonna
be on the album, but Prince took them back as well.
Apollonia 6 were created especially for the movie,
Prince wasn't gonna waste too many good songs on a
band that wasn't real. Apollonia was an actress
employed for the Purple Rain movie and subsequent
post-promotion and touring. It wasn't a 'proper band'
like Vanity 6.

Either way it goes I still think it was a classic album , it was way better then the vanity 6 effort nod
