I Would Die 4 U(Extended Version)

OHMG! this such an 80s remix groove. i just bought this with a dance mix of Erotic City (that's great too). and if i'm not mistaken, it's a live band recording doing it with Prince calling cues thru out. it sounds like an outtake.
i had been looking at this for sooo long at HMV. so glad i finally got it.

I was looking through my LP vinyl collection today and just held it for a while...I love this 12" single.

I remember being suprised to see a brand new unique 12" at a local latino music store in 85!

Bought it right there and then, I couldn't believe my ears!

Live Prince!

And when I say unique it's because the 12" has really nice Pruple Rain like artwork and a BIG label on the sleeve with a photos of Prince.

I don't think it's an outtake, it's a just a soundboard recording of I Would Die 4 U live somewhere from the Pruple Rain tour. The audience track had been edited out! Which gives it such a na amazing feel. It feels live but private.

Prince and the Revolution just rips through that song, I still play it over, and over and over...

B-Side: None other than Another Lonely Christmas, the complete version, not the Hits B-Sides edited one, which is the 7" version.

I wish they would of put Baby I'm A Star on there too.

I'm sure that Prince has the complete show recorded or mastered like that in his vault, live but without the audience.

Imagine? Whew.

The 12" version of I Would Die 4 U was recorded during
the rehearsals for the Purple Rain tour (probably at
the Warehouse on Flying Cloud Drive) The full length
recording was over 30 minutes long before it was edited
down to 10 minutes for the 12" release. As well as the
usual Revolution line up, it also features Sheila E, and
members of her band.

That version is unreleased officially, but it's easy to find.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

It was recorded at the Warehouse as Boris said. nod
Just a straight run-thru of their 'live' renidtion/version of the song. I guess P liked that fOnk so much he wanted 2 capture it and put it out there. I love it, especially the last quarter, awesome, awesome, awesome...
