Does Lenny REALLY "Listen" 2 Prince?

Ok, Prince had mentioned in the past that when Lenny's contract with Virgin expires, he'd get him "off the plantation" and sign him up as an indi artist on NPG records.

Lenny re-signed with Virgin. (in some ways, knowing Prince's business record, maybe he thought it was safe - and best - to stay with Virgin records).

Now Lenny is dancing with Prince's devil, Warner Bros, while still down with Virgin.

Maybe Lenny can put the good word in for Prince for WB to hand back his masters?

Interesting, here's the link:

Lenny Kravitz Forms Label

Lenny Kravitz has formed Roxie Records, an imprint named for his late mother, Roxie Roker, that will be distributed through Warner Bros.
He remains signed to Virgin Records as a recording artist and will release a new studio album, "Funk," in the fall, according to a spokesperson.

"Lenny and I have a long-term relationship," says Jeff Ayeroff, Warner Bros. "creative czar," as he refers to himself. Ayeroff worked with Kravitz when he was co-chairman of Virgin Records America. "Lenny and I have always talked about the next phase of his career. This is what I call his Quincy Jones phase," Ayeroff says.

Among the first signees to Roxie is vocalist Dan Dyer, who is at work with engineer Matt Knobel on his debut album. Knobel worked behind the scenes on Kravitz's 2002 album, "Lenny."

Lenny Kravitz Inks New Deal with Warner Bro.s Records...Could he be the next 'PRINCE'?

The Colorful Rocker Inks New Deal with another former Colorful Rocker(Prince) former label Time Warner to distribute his 'Roxie Records' which was named after the Rockers late Mother and Actress "Roxie Rocker"...Lenny Kravitz created the label just shortly after the passing of his mother several years ago...and has been struggling to get the company off the ground, now he may finally have that opportunity with Warner Bro.s records who just signed the rocker to a very lucrative deal to sign new acts for the Roxie Records label, expected to start releasing new material from new acts this fall.

Looks like 'Lenny won't be going up north to Paisley Park after all'.

Not to sound like nails on a chalkboard but people on the real plantations didn't get residuals from the cotton they picked.

Prince gets huge checks from his labor on the Warners plantation.

If it weren't for Owen, Mo, Russ and the plantation that brought P to the world he might be teaching music at Jim Hamilton's old post in Minniewood or maybe asking "Do you want Gold fries with that Purple shake?"

Where Paisley failed was Prince got in the way of the artists with his ego over the actual music.

He thought, "If people liked that, then they'll like this." Sorry.

The Time/Vanity/Shelia spin-offs were great!

But... Something happened along the way.

Berry didn't get in the way of the music at Motown neither Madonna at Maverick.

Hopefully Lenny will produce new artists as Prince did with Paisley. Lenny's done it in the past with chicks that he was porkin' and the albums were quite good.
