The Vault & N.E.W.S.

"The Vault" is the version of "N.E.W.S." w/ words...because 2 me Prince definetely had that jazzy sound going on with "The Vault" & it was much more enjoyable on "The Vault" than "N.E.W.S." nod
Now Im not saying "N.E.W.S." is bad but it is waaay waaay more hollow & I dont think Prince was taking a "New Direction In Music" w/ "N.E.W.S." either...as far as Im concerned, Prince always has taken new directions w/ his music...every single album the man has made is different from the 1 before! music No album has the same sound 2 it 2 me...maybe the same gibberish wink...but not the same sound.

Let's analyse the music edit music hmmm

Well The Vault is a collection of out-takes and previously unreleased tracks spanning a wide time-frame put together and slung at Warners with lacklustre and out-of-date artwork.

It has a lose jazzy feel to it, which leads one to believe the tracks that are on the album were chosen for this quality, since it's sister album, Choas & Disorder, was a similar affair, only loosely guitar/rock based rather than jazzy.

Conversely N.E.W.S was recorded very quickly in the same session, so I think it has more in common with Xpectation and the Madhouse and Flesh records.

Excuse me? If u've made a thread speaking of this very same thing or similiar to it...then that's u. Sorry child, but Im not in a rush 2 "steal" nor incorporate anything that may have come from u, especially seeing how u react 2 a simple thread that has absolutely nothing 2 do with ur existance in the real world but is merely my opinion. Oh yes, & ur not being really original right now by complaining about someone "incorporating your ideas" in2 another thread...it's been done already by plenty others.

I think that The Vault may appear to be a toss-away project at first, but I believe that Prince made an extra effort to re-mix the songs to make a very cohesive album. I digs it.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Really? I never paid much attention to it.

What was re-mixed, besides the extension She Spoke 2 Me that added nothing to the song?

The track 'Sarah' was substantially worked on from the rough demo version that is floating around.

'Five Women' became '5 Women +'. It also features more strings if you compare it to the demo version.

"Old Friends" was completely redone.
