Big Surprise!
Maceo and his band (which now seems to include Morris Hayes!!!) played at the Apollo Theater New York last night and who should walk out saxophone in had when Maceo was being introduced but Prince!!!
Maceo followed him to the stage and Prince gave him the sax...
He (Prince) seemed to be around for most of the show altho' he didn't perform... Maceo's new show is slamming in your face funk, the addition of Morris seems to bring a whole new level to the Band... and Maceo seems to be stretching out more than ever!
Did anyone else go???
Maceo plyed quite a few songs from his new album (which was just out last week I think in the states)...and some of the old favs too, he seemed visably moved by treading those boards at the historic Apollo which he's done so many times with other people, he also made some comment about "from James Brown to Prince"...
He's coming back East in Aug?Sept, you should really see this show...even if you've seen Maceo a few times (like me!!!) this current lineup and show really is up there at the top of his form and the band's too...
