Jams Of The Year round # 32 (1990-1993)

Round 31's votes were low again - everyone's too wrapped up in the new music to think about the Tony M-infested era. Here's what got voted off:

1990 - We Can Funk in a close run
1991 - Q In Doubt
1992 - Call The Law by a landslide. Can't beat that guitar solo, though...
1993 - Guess Who's Knockin' - Was that you voting, McCartney?

The winners (so far) are:
1978 - Just As Long As We're Together
1979 - I Wanna Be Your Lover
1980 - Uptown
1981 - Controversy
1982 - Lady Cab Driver
1983 - Irresistible Bitch
1984 - The Beautiful Ones
1985 - Condition Of The Heart
1986 - Sometimes It Snows In April
1987 - If I Was Your Girlfriend
1988 - Anna Stesia

I'm going to come to the defence of the Cream maxi-single. OK, so it's not groundbreaking music by any means, but I listened to it in the car over the weekend, and it's really fun loud music. It's a really interesting product, as all the songs sound like developments of the one before, until Ethereal Mix is not at all Cream-related - a dance instrumental which just kicks butt.

And listen to Get Some Solo and tell me that's not funky...

Did anyone else create maxi-singles like this and New Power Generation? Not singles full of remixes of the main track, but developments and evolutions of the main track? I don't know of any others like this...

hammer Get Some Edit...
