Personally, I'm going for number two. I think its kind of funny that the perious master of originality and thought provication ends up as a coaster at a candlelit dinner party. I can see the conversation now:

Susan: Charles, what is this delightful light background music?

Charles: Well Susan, its actually Prince. (He says with some smug look, as if he thinks the name still carries some form of coolness).

Susan: Gosh! You mean that little man that did all those great songs in the 80's and the not so good ones on the 90's? What happened? Did someone surgically remove at least 50% of his brain?

I have always had bad experiences introducing Prince's music to friends or trying to put it on in the background hoping somebody would like it (one has to wonder why I would need such validation)... but anyway, XPectation is the only one that has ever got my friends interested. Not quite over wine and cheese nights, more like beer and drinking card games.. for once they trully liked it..
