With shipping it works out approx. £11.35 - I don't think that's bad for what is essentially an EPs worth of music shipping internationally.

Fingers crossed his latest business hook-up is a solid establishment.

I must admit though, the last time I ordered from NPG retail (inside last years NPGMC) I ordered Rave In2 and it came surprisingly speedy.

Kudos is due there.

And Ani doesn't require you to pay $25 to have the "opportunity" to buy those albums.

I ordered 2 copies, and the international shipping was $10.99. Not too bad at all.

I gather the CD will be available to the public, because there is a check box asking is you want to join the NPGMC.

I gathered it would go public, as he was releasing press statements.

Sorry if this q is really late, but I just went 23 NPGMC 4 the first time in ages (not a member), clicked on "Jon Now" and got a N.E.W.S promo clip.

Is that from North?

To my uttmost surprise:

- the track is not exactly 14:00 minutes - this is for all those that were afraid that again Prince first set out a pattern which he tried to fulfill with disregad to artistic concerns - the exact time is 14:51

That's what I thought as well when I listened 2 it the first time. But in fact the wind sounds stop at the end after exactly 14 minutes. There is absolutely nothing after that. Not even a fart.

More details, please! What's it like? Comparisons w/ xpectation and other artists?

well... i'm not very good in english, but i will try 2 describe the song.

its a smoothy, downtempo 14 minutes instrumental part.

beginning : bass and drum, with some synth on the background and some guitar sounds (with whammy). then enter what i think is a synth (a vocoder??) and... Eric Leeds saxophone !!! cool, smooth, few notes at a time, lot of space for the bass-drum beat.

3' : introducing Prince guitar with his now-common sound (whammy + ringtone), followed by a musical phrase played by clean guitar + sax + synth. the mood change a little bit.

5' : sax solo by Eric Leeds (deep sound) with some notes by Renato in the background.

6' : guitar by Prince and i think there is violins in the back (Clare Fischer 's touch).

8' : still guitar and sax, but the beat goes stronger (bass line grooves, Blackwell uses all his drum)

9' : break. no drum, no bass. piano solo. Prince's guitar sounds like the wind...

10'30 : Eric Leeds again. it sounds now like Eric Leeds album.

12 : wind til the end.

thats it

if u knew the instrumental soundcheck sessions like osaka and tokyo, its sounds like this. i think its better than Xpectation : the band is perfect, and its now really a band !!!

Decent English, man. A lot better than people whose native language it's suppsoed to be, LOL!

I haven't heard this shit yet, but ANYTHING with Eric's cool horn on it can't be bad at all!!! I haven't heard anything decent of Prince's with horns on it that wasn't Eric since Billy Jack Bitch!! Damn, it's good to have Eric back in the Prince fold adding something exciting to the jams. I listen to a lot of the older rehearsal back in the SOTT/Lovesexy days, and it almost makes me wanna cry cuz he's just so smooth and funky at the same time! LOL!

i take it you've heard the 1995 emporium aftershows eric was a part of as well?

those are my favorite eric leeds moments... that version of the npg plus eric was just incredible.

a great sign of things to come... which eventually fell apart unfortunately...

The best part of this song, for me, is the part where Renato
plays piano with Prince's guitar sounding like the wind in
the background. And then Eric's sax comes in again. Very
nicely done.

I'm very glad that Renato gets to play keys on this album
cuz I missed his touch on Xpectation. I love his style and
have been hoping for him to appear on a studioalbum since
I heard the European tour rehearsals/aftershows.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Exactly! The piano break down after the little build up of the music is the best part, IMO.

im hearing 'East' out on the porch of NPGMC..

& this stuff is JUST WHAT I WANTED!

that guitar just kills me!... the keys...it is so perfect!

but i wonder... if there is much programming thru this or if it is mainly drums by John Blackwell.

the sample of East so far gets 69/10!!!

perfection

it's a streaming audio track, but you can pick it up from Temporary Internet Files, nnnorth.mp3 is the file name...

i am on windows 2000 professional, pentium 4. i run ie usually, but i tried with netscape also. i have the most recent versions of media player, qt, and real. computer is pretty fast. under a year old. i do this at work. it could be a firewall issue, but i don't get that same issue when going to other sites and obtain mp3's or other forms of audio files.
