Or am I just dreaming? Yes, he recorded it twice. The first time he erased it because he thought it was too personal. I think it's a piece of music with speach over it where Prince asks his friend Wally if he could borrow some sunglases for a date. Then later he calls Wally up saying that he won't be needing them because he was no longer going to be going on his date. I'm pretty sure that this one is still sealed away in the vault, I've never seen a bootleg that has it. NOTE: THIS ACCOUNT IS NOW CLOSED. PLEASE CONTACT “K A M L L E”

According to Turn It Up, the second recording was simply a reworking of the lyrics and music, layered on to the original track. So I guess neither exists after the command was given to erase it. -----------------------------------------

The second version was recorded the next day with altered lyrics. Eric Leeds and Matt Blistan added horns to this version. Eric also believes that the first version was completely erased (the only time, he suspects, that Prince has done this) but not the second, according to TIU 2.0. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. Susan said she had noticed that Prince had started 2 purposefully overdub unneeded instrumentation on top of this amazing song 2 the point where it was detrimental 2 caryy on without commenting.
Prince told her 2 put all the tracks on record, and 'wipe em' Susan stood her ground and simply point-blank refused 2 carry out his request 2 erase the tracks, so Prince did it himself. Kudos 2 Susan 2 stick 2 her guns, regardless of the outcome. I wish they would work 2gther again 4 sho...

The 2nd version probably still exsists, although no one other than those envolved in making it have heard it. NOTE: THIS ACCOUNT IS NOW CLOSED. PLEASE CONTACT “K A M L L E”

I thought I remember reading that she quit since she was totally burned out and Prince pleaded her to come back during his X trip and she said no and left for good.

Wally was re-recorded the next day with 'revised' lyrics. Susan left Prince's employ of her OWN accord I believe, post SOTT/pre-LoveseXy. Im not so sure about Susan leaving the business, in recent years she has produced a couple of the TooL albums, and a number of up and coming bands...she's still around.
