Sign O The Times DVD coming out soon in the UK? I just went to the British Board of Film Classification's website and searched for Sign 'O' The Times. Lo and behold, the film has been re-classified on 23rd May 2003!!! This can only mean that it's about to be released on DVD!!! Yay.
It states that; 'At the time of classification Universal Pictures (UK) Ltd was the holder of the rights or the brand name for this work. ' Simply go to http://www.bbfc.org.uk and then click on Search Titles and type in (exactly as shown here) Sign 'O' The Times in the Title bar.

When I did the search it mentioned the reclassification on May 23/03 as you mentioned, but its format was listed as video?? "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. I hope I'm wrong, but I highly doubt that's what it means. No Candy 4 Me

Yes, whether it's on DVD or VHS, the category is always listed as Video as opposed to Film (cinema release). A simple VHS re-issue wouldn't need to be re-classified, the fact that it has been re-submitted most definitely suggests that it's going to be re-issued on a new format (DVD).

I hope I'm wrong, but I highly doubt that's what it means. In the UK, every official release, whether on DVD, VHS or at the cinema has to be passed by the British Board of Film Classification. It's not something a distributor will bother with unless they actually plan to release something. And the BBFC don't deal with unofficial releases.

Dont hold your breath - although 2 be fair, Universal at least make more of an effort than Warner Bros do with their back-cat DVD releases, so their may be SOMETHING (a trailer probably - wooo) Widescreen and in DTS would be nice, but these things are expensive 2 action (u only have 2 note the sometimes glaring differences in region 1 and 2 DVDs - over here, 'eXtras' just aint a major concern as apposed 2 financial concerns. I think it will get released in wide-screen, and a muddy 5:1 mix job, and that will be your lot. (At least we'll get SOMETHING nice and funky in 2004!)
