What is he building?

The large "theatre" or soundstage, or whatever it is he's building at Paisley Park. We were teased with photos of it for a while on the website, but that was like a year ago and I haven't heard anything since.

What the hell is it? A witness hall? A performance venue?

Just wondering.

I don't know what it is he's building. But I think it's safe to say that nothing that size takes over a year to build, so whatever it is the project must've been put on hold.

It's been mentioned that it might be a CD-stamping and printing plant . . . because when they showed us the first photo, didn't they imply that?

But I agree with Abucah, nothing that small (actually, it is pretty small as far as construction) takes over a year. I'm sure the ONA tour and the marriage interrupted it a little.

Maybe the tour and celebration will be paying for the new building. A tour shouldn't slow down the progress,It's not like Prince is out there in his coveralls on the weekend building it himself. He's Prince, not Bob Villa. wink

Heh...that would have been a big moneymaker! Way to go, Rog!

An unfinished building sitting on your property, Paisley Park in need of renovation, and a multi-million dollar white elephant mansion in Toronto!!

I can't wait to see your next project! How about a $10,000 giant air conditioned cage for your doves!!

I believe it's suppose to be some place where Prince gives away food for charity . Everybody kept talking about him building a Jehovah Whitness building in the back and everyone was so mean-spirited about the Jehovahs and their religion. And I'm sure they are just nice people. I really don't know their teaching but I'm sure it's not at all vicious like some of you have suggested.

That doesn't make sense. Why would he construct a building to distribute food to the poor in Chanhassen? Chanhassen is a wealthy suburb. The poor people are in Minneapolis.

What was he planning to do -- bus the poor folks who need food out to Paisley so they can pick up the food?

Do you honestly think that the officials in Chanhassen are going to give Prince a permit that will result in bringing low income and poor people out to Chanhassen?

That makes about as much sense as the plan he and Mayte had to turn a $3 million mansion into an orphanage. The people in the neighboring mansions wouldn't allow it. You can bet that Prince's neighbors in wealthy Chanhassen are not going to allow him to open up any kind of facility for poor people in their neighborhood.

When they first started construction I asked a staffer what it was and he said a restaurant. I assume that Prince gave up on that idea which is why the building remains unfinished.

Without serving meat, cheese, milk, ice cream, eggs and just about any other thing remotely resembling "food", I wonder how he plans to fill it. How many entrees can you develop with nuts, berries, tofu and tree bark as their specials?

Not to mention, I'm sure there would be no bar.

Kidding aside, my guess is that it's a concert/event venue that people can rent out and avoid all of the red tape and Ticketmaster bullshit. Proceeds and liscensing fees would go to Paisley Park/NPGMC. Plus, he can perform there himself. Just a hunch.

I hope it's not a Witness Hall or something. I DO NOT want my NPGMC membership money funding such an endeavor.

Why are you still guessing when people have already told you what it was supposed to be?

At the Celebration, folks were saying it was a digital studio. Sounds more likely than some of the other stuff people have mentioned.

Of course it could also be a silo for storing up food for when the Rapture begins.

He already has digital recorders and ProTools, so he doesn't need another room for digital recording. His mixing consoles are analog, however... but that doesn't make much difference since he has a custom SSL board in studio A and a custom API/DiMedio console in studio B. These are both REALLY great boards.

I believe that he has a 32 track Sony digital recorder or something like that as well as ProTools.

Well if you look at it, there's a double row of windows all the way around at two levels, and you can see clear through to the other wall, its a big open thing with lots of sunlight.

I've heard so many different things that this building is supposed to be. I guess we can only speculate until Prince says what it is. Maybe it is a place where he was going to preach?

I have to agree with Joey Coco on this one...Brother Jules told me that it was going to be a resturant as well. I think the idea was scrapped...did anyone notice that all the metal was rusting? They obviously gave up on construction a while ago.
