This has to be a joke. I saw him put a bass between his legs while spinning in a circle with one foot on the ground and the other leg in the air. And he threw down.

R U kidding!! Prince can rock the bass as well as he can on the guitar. One thing I must say about being around Larry G. is that Prince's bass playing has gotten funkier than ever. I have a clip of him from the 1989 Batman sessions in the studio doing the bass part for Partyman where he is tearing the bass up. I've never seen anyone do a rif the way he did with his fingers. He rolled them up and down on the strings(not the neck)and it made this unique sound. You have to see it to believe it. You need to do some research on this my friend. P.S. Check out La La La Hee Hee Hee to hear some funky bass and all of the 1987 tracks that were released and unreleased.

HE plays bass very very well. He comes up with great melodic bass lines and can pop and pull funky fluid snakelike lines off his bass guitars.

Have you not seen or heard anything that sounded impressive?

Yes it did! I saw him do this at the Jam of the Year concert Hollywood Bowl 97. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. shocked

I read a quote awhile back from Levi (i think?) that Prince can play bass while wearing gloves and even using drumsticks.

Yep, definitely. For proof, check out some of the JOTY vids out there...usually at the beginning of Face Down (the main song part) he would do it. Off the top of my head, I KNOW it's on the Oakland JOTY tape. Cool as hell!!

The bass solo he did for "Face Down," at the Cap Centre in DC 1997 was sick. Just sick.

La La La, Hee Hee Hee is equally ill.

But somebody's playing pro wrestler in here . . . trying to bait us.

Victor Lemont Wooten, bass player extraordinaire from the group Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, lists Prince as one of his influences on the bass.
