After all these years Prince hits #1 on the record charts.....

As the sun starts to fade on the passion that Prince once had in the public eye with such great albums as "Purple Rain", and "Sign O' The Times". Prince comes back out of left field with a #1 album in over a decade...

The sad truth is this will never happen. I truly believe Prince will continue on his current path, and fade out of the public eye forever. Other than a few mentions of the reason his career took a nose dive when he changed his name. And then changed it back again. Confusion has always tailed Prince through his cirus like career. As someone who has followed his every move, I'd like to see Prince on top just one more time.

Just as my thoughts on Prince have come full circle, I'll be riding on the sunbeams to wait for that day. But the sad truth it'll never come to be.

Do you think Prince will prove us wrong?

None of those bands from the early-to-mid 80's still have any relevance in today's music scene -- even Michael Jackson and Madonna are fading.

They all played the "game" and still lost -- at least Prince tried something new.

have u heard madonnas new album? it's so now. go to any underground electro club in london (nag nag nag , the cock , pcokz , etc) and you will hear all new electronic music from paris , berlin and italy that is mind blowing stuff and that is the basis for what she is doing now.

no, not fading.

even mj tracks are being mixed together in an alltogether new way and are on the dancefloors of electro clubs through europe.

suburbia won't hear this stuff for a few years yet.

I'll take Prince's recent material 1000 times over any of that elctro-crap. Who gives a shit if its popular. Prince's music organic where as electro is 100% plastic.

In pop music, anything is possible. Not too long ago,Cher and Carlos Santana were considered "has-beens",but they have since rejuvenated their careers beyond anyone's expectations. So,the idea of Prince making a comeback is not as absurd as it seems.

The problem is,Prince could only make a comeback if he was willing to play the game again (sign with a major label, record a radio-friendly pop album, maybe try some trendy sounds, etc).Yes,it would be great to see him back on top,but ask yourself,do you really want him to do those things? Do you want a "commercial" album from him?

Some fans want Prince to have a # 1 album again so it will validate their musical choices. They are looking for a sign of approval.

I think that is BS. Madonna has always been a few steps behind yet people eat it up like she is some kind of visionary. The woman has never come up with an album that has really been "cutting edge" or whatever. It has just been "cutting edge" for the mainsteam. Played out by anyone else who has any idea.

Yeah, but is there truly anything in pop music that can honestly be called "cutting edge"? Is there really anything that hasn't been done before? Every artist is influenced by what came before them and Madonna is certainly no exception.

I know Prince could give a rats ass about the charts. And Prince will never ever be called top 40 by me. BUT I'd love to see him in the mainstream again to show the "music listener" what a true musician is!! And it burns me up when people just remember Prince as that "Symbol Guy", or "He hasn't done anything good since Purple Rain".

But the other thing that drives me crazy about Prince is he could blow every musician alive out of the water, and then some. He has no desire too. Just for once, bring the kid back!!! I want to believe again... sigh

I know what u mean...when i say 2 some ignorant 'Top 40 chart teenie-boppers" that i love Prince, they say - has he had nething since D&P?! I mean Helllooo- where do they at least think 'Most Beautiful Girl' comes from?...least they should kno that!
Personally, i don't think that the chart listeners of 2day could handle Prince...he's 2 unique and talented. He doesn't fit in with the plastic, formulated pop of 2day...thank GOD

STOP THE PRESS, please!
Many teenagers are fan of Gun & Roses, Cure, Bowie… "stars from the past"… but nobody can be star forever (even Michael Jackson", simply because a star gets older and their fans have babies who will hardly know 80's stars 's nam unless they have a "flash" or they are told… But their will always be kids loving Mozart, Edith Piaf or else! Prince shines forever: his musical and pics material is a treasure for the next generations, don't worry!

"After all these years Prince hits #1 on the record charts..."

HUH?, Prince's albums have always been #1 to me!

The only people who care about chart positions are 12yr olds - cause they don't realise it's BS yet! I'm sure everyone here "fell for it" when they were young, but gradually started to realise their own taste and sound leading them to Prince.

(BTW Madonna is not a musician)

Hey you stole my line!! Cool huh?! I liked P when i was a kid, but was big in2 MJ, and blues and the whole Motown thing! haha

Prince is real music, today's music has no soul...it's just manufactured crap most of it...i mean who is a real, talented musician and writer on the "charts" today? There wouldn't b many - if ne!
PRINCE ROCKS!

(Oh yeah, and Madonna is definately NOT a musician, she's a business woman...)
