Got back from the Sydney clinic of John Blackwell, which was amazing (sorry 2 all the Sydney orgers that I missed, didn't recognise any P fans. Im the one that yelled out "whoo - hoo" when John mentioned The Rainbow Children" album and he said "oh, one person there has heard of it").

Anyhow, the shop at the clinic was selling the latest "drumscene" magazine (issue 33???) with Blackwell on the cover. I briefly flicked through his interview, half of it talked about drum techniques, the other half asked questions on recording with Prince, including insight on The Rainbow Children sessions. Im planing on buying it, and i'll give more info on that when I do. So look out for it!

I am so regretting not going to the Brisbane workshop last week. Work called me up in the morning and for some stupid reason I said OK (the $$$ are just too good to resist dammit!)

I was there also at the Sydney clinic and it was awesome seeing John play live.

That damn kick drum of John's was way to funky and it really helped me get a sense of just how good the ONA tour must have sounded.

John has a great sense of humour, he even said he was sick and to excuse his bad playing (right after a 20min solo that teared up shit!!!). His story about Prince docking him money everytime he missed a beat was hilarious - DNA can attest to that.

Overall great day and you didn't need to be a drummer to appreciate the talent on show.

PS. I spoke to John afterwards and told him to make sure he tells Prince firstly just where Australia is and secondly how much fun he had here. Hopefully it works (i was going to get him to tell P just how many JW's there are in Oz but...)
