I took a break from prince...... So. I took a break from Prince for almost 2 months. I only listened to him once. That was on the way to work. They were playing LRC on the radio. I've been listening to Prince since 1981, and I've taken breaks before. This break was the longest.
I listened to a lot of Hendrix and Zeppelin. My other favorite musicians. Whoops also a lot of Pink Floyd. Anyway I feel refreshed like never before. I even sold some of my Prince collection. I was thinking to myself am I done? No more Prince? Is this possible? After all these years? Well I started listening to Prince again. I started listening to Lovesexy, and some Lovesexy Rehearsals. Great stuff!! But I don't quite feel the same about the Purple one anymore. I'm not sure if it was the break away, but I became clear. At one time I was OBSESSED with Prince and everything about him. Since I was 11 years old almost every penny went to collecting Prince. And I mean 1000's of dollars. I bought everything! Posters, T-shirts, Magazines, Books, Bootlegs, anything I could get my hands on. Well no more. (Well ok maybe some bootlegs now and then). I even met Prince a few times and got to talk with him. Went on stage at the Vegas show and stood right next to him during a few songs (before the NPGMC was brought up at the end.) I guess that grounded me because after all these years that was my goal. I just wanted to meet him and thank him for everything. He used to be so mysterious and untouchable. Now that he has broke down his walls (and security) he's pretty cool. Am I making sense...anyone? I still love the music, BUT the obsession is long gone!!! And I feel though he's lost his spark lyric wise. Not as a musician though. He has come a long way since I saw him on the Purple Rain tour. His guitar work is amazing!! Still underrated as a guitar player. I'm not sure if it's the JW thing, but like many musicians in his time he's not up to par. And for the love Prince, your website is boring!!! I still respect him and enjoy the music...but it's just not the same anymore. I've lived to see the dawn and I'm disappointed "The little 1 will escort u 2 the places within ur mind"

I've not listened to him much at all in the last two years.
I guess when the new album drops I'll be back in there.

Good for you. I did the same thing earlier this year, and last year as well.
http://www.prince.org/msg...&tid=38802 I always find the time away makes the music that much sweeter, and everything else about him/his life/whatever less important. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I've lived to see the dawn and I'm disappointed That's kinda weird 4 me. basically Prince was the first MUSICIAN I got into (as opposed to POP STAR if U know what I mean) If it wasn't 4 P I wouldn't be playing (I have my own jazz group) Prince was my way into a whole world of music just through who he was involved with. Miles Davis 4 example. He's someone I love and I wouldn't even have heard of if it wasn't 4 P. OK Prince isn't the force he was in the 80's but if U compiled his best moments from say his last 10 albums U'd still have 5 or 6 peerless records. There have been times when I haven't listened as much as I used 2 but I'm not selling my collection 4 anyone! 2 many memories!!
