Prince's videos are a mixed bag.There were some really good ones,mostly the ones from the mid-to-late 80s...


***"When Doves Cry"(1984)---you can't deny that this is a great video.It works as an effective "teaser" for the 'Purple Rain' film,containing a few clips from the movie.The dancing sequence at the end is stunning.

***"Raspberry Beret"(1985)---another classic Prince video.If you can overlook Prince's silly Liza Minnelli hairdo,this is a nice video...lol..

***"Kiss" (1986)---Prince dances up a storm in this video and he looks like he's really enjoying himself.Yes,it looks kinda cheap and simplistic,but it perfectly captures the funky energy of the song.

***"I Wish U Heaven"(1988)---what a shame that this video didn't get alot of exposure! It's a beautiful clip,and it has a "heavenly" look to it.And isn't it nice seeing Cat,Sheila and Boni doing that dance together?

***"Batdance" (1989)---For the 'Batman' videos,Prince knew that he had to come up with something big and amazing.He succeeded with "Batdance".It's one of those flashy,big-budget,well-choreographed videos that Michael Jackson usually does.There's even an intriguing "good vs.evil" plot going on.This one was alot of fun!



Admittedly,there weren't too many outstanding videos after that.In fact,some of the 90s videos are downright embarrassing ("Thieves In The Temple"..."My Name Is Prince"..."TMBGITW" with it's eerie return of that awful Liza Minneli hairdo...lol).

I would still consider "7" a good video.

These were his best 90s videos,imo...



***"Gett Off"(1991)---gotta love this one! It's sexy and outrageous,and hilarious at times.

***"Cream"(1991)---I love the way everyone is dressed up in this video,and the choreography is really impressive.I recall the director of this video (can't remember her name,but she also directed "Kiss") saying that she wanted it to look like a scene straight out of a stylish musical.I think she succeeded.


The 90s was a weird decade for Prince,because many of his singles from this era didn't even have videos.I honestly can't recall seeing too many other Prince videos after 1993.

Whenever Prince directs his own videos, he shows how much he really sucks. I was just watching the Daisy Chain video the other day, and I almost had to scratch my eyes out and pour salt into the empty sockets to relieve the pain.

What the fuck does he shoot into his blood stream to come up with such garbage?

If the videos were good...
