Prince concert on Dutch radio.

This info comes from the Veronica TV guide:

Radiostation 3FM (BNN) will broadcast Friday 20/6/03 at 22:00 a Prince concert. According to the TV guide this concert will contain snippets of music never heard before.

Does anybody have more info on this?

question

BNN's website has something on the topic as well.

The program called 'BNN for live' is broadcasted on Dutch Radio 2, and consists of
two seperate hours. The first hour (19:00 - 20:00) is dedicated to live-recordings holding
special memories to the listeners. The second hour (22:00 - 23:00) beholds a compilation of
live-recordings by legendary bands and artists, implicated to be non-stop.

The announcement regarding Prince states that (probably the second hour) a compilation
of live-recordings will be aired, including rare 'not available elsewhere' material.
The reason for this dedicated show is Radio 2's theme 'Week of the eighties'.

smile

The statement that the show features recordings never heard before could very
well be true, as the Dutch radio has a long history of recording concerts themself.

I do not think that the Dutch radio owns recordings from Prince that have not been broadcasted yet. We all know that Prince is a control freak if it comes to his recordings and I can not imagine that he allows radio stations to record his shows.

And, if the Dutch radio really has some “unknown” recordings of shows, why didn't these recordings show up on bootlegs? I assume its is more easy to borrow/copy the recordings from a radio station than the stuff which is stored in the vault at PP.

3fm (the station that will hold the special) is known to play a lot of Prince music. Up to 5 songs a day nod

They make their own Prince megamix's, aired the 'Osama Bin Laden get ready to bomb' part of the Tivoli aftershow, aired bits and pieces of Small Club, played about 2 minutes of an 1998 aftershow after a news-item on the Nighttown aftershow...they know their Prince material, so you'd better listen music

such bullshit, the only time you hear P's songs is during that crap-show 'Arbeidsvitaminen', alongside crap-bands like Toto, Def Leppard & Barry Manilow. Certainly not 5 songs a day!

Some station called City FM (Utrecht radio?) also playes a lot of Prince...

And on 3fm, not only Arbeidsvitaminen plays him (they do play him the most), but I also often hear him at ruuddewild.nl and Stenders Vroeg. One of the Stenders sidekicks is a huge Prince fan nod

You're welcome, go to this site and you will have to choose your internet-connection:
breedband - 64kb WMP

or

smalband - 20kb WMP

whatever the hell that means!
