The Truth vs ONA Piano cds- what's yer fave?.

Mine has tobe the truth, there are some great moments on here from the bluesy title track, the gorgeous melody of Dionne, the wit of 'one of your tears', the emotional 'comeback', the cocky 'dont play me'etc. I know the regular hardened critics/orgers hate this cd but i LOVE it. What about you lot , is it Prince and Piano or Prince and Guitar for you?.

yeah, i might have to choose The Truth even tho i don't listen to it much.
The Truth actually seems like a real experiment in freedom. ONA seems like he was bored and needed to get something out to the peeps. i like ONA tho.
but then again i could be completely wrong.

The Truth seems like a completed album whereas ONA Piano feels like a demo - some of the lyrics need rethinking for instance.

My take on it then is that they are both great for what they are but I'll take The Truth over ONA Piano (even though I havent listened to it in a while).

The Truth. music

As someone said it's a much more complete album and thus it can be enjoyed on several more levels, so to speak. I like ONA for what it is: It's meant to be a simple collection of songs with nothing but Prince at the piano. Of course he cheats a little here and there with some added effects, but it's forgivable.

The Truth is more "urgent" than ONA. I made a mix disc of both back when ONA was sent out. They work really well together that way. You've got the urgency of The Truth being subsided by the calming of ONA...its pretty cool that way. I guess I would have to say though, that The Truth gets more play in my stereo.
