The Nostalgia Thread: Is It a Crime? Lately I've been seeing more & more threads popping up here talking about Madhouse, The Family, Sheila E., and so on.
I tried to fight against it, but couldn't. Was just wondering if it's a crime to miss those days of 'old' (- 'wild' for those of you who can dig it! ) , when Prince was the absolute high priest of his Paisley empire - releasing tons and tons of music through such outlets as Madhouse, The Family, etc...is it a crime? How I long for those days to come back, at least in some way. Thank God for memories and the music that IS...I want to see Prince move forward, musically and artistically...but y'all can feel me on this one, right? Just put on "Purple Rain" and (if you have 'em) the outtakes during that period, as well as "Around The World In A Day", "Parade" and so on...The Family's album, The Time, Madhouse...now can you dig on what I'm saying? I'd love to see Prince, Eric Leeds, Sheila E., and most of the Revolution get together and do one massive album! Imagine, NEW music inspired by the energy from back in da' day!...WOW! Feel me?

I feel ya!
Alot of people here on org say things to the effect of "revolution's dead, move on". My problem with that is Prince's "new" music is as old as ever. I mean think about the material back in the early to mid 80's, it was cutting edge and ahead of it's time. Some cuts u can play now, and they still sound as ahead of it's time compared to what's on the charts 2day. Most of Prince's music in recent times (excluding The Rainbow Children, I'll give him props for that) sounds dated, thin sounding and uninspiring. The live stuff of the last 10 years is just riffing off 60's / 70's James Brown, which is nothing cutting edge, which i think is what a lot of fams crave a revolution reunion, not so much to "relive" the 80's music, but to make new music, and to make it as cutting edge as it was back then Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

I was just watching one of the Lovesexy concerts from '88', and was thinking, "that's why I love Prince." All the wild suites and jumping, splits and crazy music. Wild funk! SEXY MF, keep on shakin that ass--shaking that ass! . "
First I need a picture of your mother, to verify the fact that there's not another one in the universe so supreme!!"

It would be like to trying to fall in love with your first love all over again. There might still be something there, but it won't be the same. He's doing the right thing (and so are they) by moving forward with their lives; and should their paths cross again in the natural progression of things, then great. The best P can do is stay open to new ideas and inspiration like any other person. If he does that then great things might be ahead (God-willing) because life is not linear-- the old will become new again.
