for those interested...they skipped by the whole "Come to my house" prince stuff...very strange since they made a point to mention how she left warner bros. unhappily and wanted her own label.

I think something happened between Prince and Chaka, because she doesn't talk about him or the album come to my house at all!
Even on her website, no mention of prince and chaka's project...except for I feel 4 u! I love chaka, but she could atleast acknowledge him, they don't even have the name or photo of the NPG album listed in the discography section. hmmm what really did happen???

i saw the lifetime intimate portrait, too!
yeah, what was up with the barely-there prince mention? no telling what happened between them. probably had something to do with larry graham's growing influence on prince. the program also didn't mention her album "the woman i am" or her most recent relationship. i remember reading a chaka khan interview in jet magazine a while ago. she said she was in a great relationship and was trying to have a baby. but i still thought it was a decent show. even if only for the background on her life, family and how she got started in the music business. her mother looks amazing!

I don't know what happened with her relationship with Prince, but 'Come 2 My House' is GREAT.I love that whole album except for maybe two tracks. On this special, did they mention her future plans? I really love Chaka and I want more music from her.I think she's having problems getting her independent label (Earth Song Records) off the ground.

maybe he isn't as important to chaka as you think he is. She's done work with other artists and they received the same brief mention. It was about chaka not prince.

i suppose you are right...just thought that since they were talking about her coming full circle, and the fact that come to my house was one of her most recent studio recordings, they would have mentioned her working with him as a free artist and co-producer. i just think they had some hard dealings (prince and chaka) because she never acknowledges him regarding that time period. regardless, she is an incredibly talented woman who has a lot to say. and these trifling young girls coming up now could learn a lot from chaka.

'I feel for you' is my favourite record, of all time.
Did they say much about it? Can someone please tell me where the Stevie Wonder sample ('FIngertips') is in 'I feel for you'?? ********************************************

The sample from Stevie Wonder's Finger Tips in I Feel For You is where you hear loud applause and someone screaming say Yeah. That is the voice of then little Stevie.

I saw the special and thought it was great for someone who isn't a Chaka fan, but would be underserved for someone like myself who wanted more details and information. Granted, the Lifetime Channel glossed over the Prince stuff, but I guess that's their perogative in how they tell her story. I doubt if Chaka had editorial approval. All in all, it was very positive and life-affirming, which the Lifetime Channel is so good at portraying. Proud member of the Naked Orgers Club
