I'm Falling In Love With UTCM All Over Again

I bought this movie last year and I simply can't get enough of it still. "The Wrecka Stow" & the "Prince clowning on Mary Sharon on the car" scenes are just too much 4 my breath lol

Do you guys still get a kick of this movie?

I use to could not watch UTCM (too cornball) but last year I gave it another spin and found myself laughing at all the silliness. Now I love it.
I'm firmly planted in denial

Never seen UTCM nor Grafitti Bridge.

And when I saw PR long ago I thought it was barf

(I'm a real Prince fan. Have all his albums but I just can't cope with bad movies)

Had I the chance to watch them on TV, i'd give them another try though.

I haven't seen it either... sad
But I love the soundtrack, and the title song is so fantasticly suicidal and sad, it makes me cry rivers of tears every time I hear it.
Especially now, at this very moment

I watched PR many times, until I got UTCM about 3 years ago.Since than I have only watched PR once and that was because someone else put it in the VCR. I think this is Prince's best movie.

Yeah, it's easily his best movie. It's really good in a goofy kind of way up until the melodramatic ending. Even that kinda works because the movie isn't to be taken seriously. The cinematography and the fact that it's black and white alone make it a pleasurable watch. Purple Rain, on the other hand, is good because of the music but the plot itself doesn't adequately build up to its conclusion. That's why Prince's behavior seems wierd and misplaced at times. For example, nothing in the movie would explain Prince's and Appolonia's deep feelings for eachother.
Anyway, Purple Rain was supposed to be more than it became but I can enjoy it for what it is-- an extended, sometimes comical music video. As for Graffiti Bridge, every couple of years I dust it off to see if there's something I'm missing and each time it's just that 1-plus hours I wasted watching it. One of these days I'm gonna learn. brick
