Yes, I can understand how you felt, I wouldn't want my digital camera taken away either. As you stated, they are a bit on the expensive side. How can they "take away" your camera - isn't that theft? As you say, digital cameras can be expensive gadgets so it isn't as if someone would sit idle and allow someone to take it from them. Prince's staff would have no right to confiscate your camera, they aren't policemen. He could ask you nicely to delete the photo, or he could fuck off. Anyone trying to steal my property better get ready for a fight (or a chase, depending on how big the security guy is )

Don't understand it myself, but I'm sure Prince and his people have their reasons. If you needed something, I guess you would need to speak to one of the security people at PP, and they could make the call for you. The reason that PP may not allow cell phones is because some cell phones have voice recorders which could in theory be used 2 create music bootlegs

Anyone trying to steal my property better get ready for a fight (or a chase, depending on how big the security guy is ) First, I was going to use this as a reason for taking a picture. He is in an open-to-the-public place where one buys a ticket to enter a building. It is no different than taking a picture of him in the Science Museum building (which is across the street) Second, I was going say that I will delete the pictures and he can watch me delete them instead of losing my camera. Third, there is no sign or whatsoever on no cameras allowed or anything to stop me from taking a picture of anything in the building which includes people. And I didn't bother the man. He was enjoying the show. I didn't go to his face and shoot a picture like a paparazzi. Like one said early. Without that information, no one would believe that Prince was at the concert for his birthday. Now we can.

Without that information, no one would believe that Prince was at the concert for his birthday. Now we can. You have a right to take photographs in public places such as parks, streets, and sidewalks, unless there is a specific statute or ordinance against photographing that location. Property owners can prohibit photography ON their premises, but they cannot prohibit you taking a picture of their building from the outside, as long as it is within a reasonable view from a public place. If Prince was walking down the street, snap away! But if you're in an auditorium, and the owner prohibits photography, then once they tell you to stop, you are legally obligated to honor the request. Here is one thing I'm unsure of as I write this though; It is illegal for them to take your camera or even your film away, without a court order. Law enforcement could seize your stuff as part of an arrest, but they would need a court order to keep it. The stuff I read doesnt specify if you loose these rights when taking photos on someone's private property. Otherwise that would be a loophole, go into a concert hall, take pics until someone tells you to stop, then you could leave with all the stuff you shot.

so u want him 2 spend his birthday sitting on the internet in some stupid cyber-dance club? my god that is very sad. that's what the glam slam room is, some lil' cyber-dance-thingie? graaahhh... Actually Joshy, I was thinking more in the lines of a web broadcast concert, that was for clubmembers only. And since I'm certain that his fans would have been glad to pay for something like that it would have been very lucrative for him to do so. So it wasn't a bad idea at all. Your lack of understanding and over-eagerness to critisize something you don't understand is saddest of all. err no,...u should have have been a bit more thorough in your original post. instead of leaving the obvious out there 2 b stated in reply. & no i wouldnt pay $40au just 2 see one online broadcast on dial-up as i am not THAT obsessed. www.riotcitywrestling.com

I would not recommend Prince attempt something like this. They can't even handle a celebrity chat properly, let alone stream live video to thousands of people simultaneously. That is a MAJOR strain on servers.

Just about every concert I've been too has language on the ticket stating no photos, videos, recording, etc. or you'll be asked to leave. I could see a situation where Prince's bodyguard catches someone taking photos, reports it to the arena's security and they say "give up the camera or get out."

I think it is more possible that Prince just wanted to show anti-war solidarity with the Chicks--I doubt he actually would like their music. All you others say Hell Yea!!
