You're lucky the bodyguard didn't take your camera away when he saw you taking that photo of Prince. I've seen cameras getting taken away by security people during the celebrations at Paisley Park because people were taking photographs. omg

This is America for the love of God and the bodygaurds do not have the right to take away cameras away from his premises. Prince isn't God and I know the camera isn't threatning national security.

Bottom line is he was in public at the Xcel Center and it wasn't even his show and he would have been sued like you can't believe if he decided to take the camera away.

With your theory I wonder why celebrities just don't take the cameras away when the paparazzi are taking their pictures?

The picture seems pretty legit unless someone else was able to get a picture of Prince sitting next to the rent-a-cop security they use at the xcel Energy Center. I'm talking about the link provided to the larger picture.

http://home.attbi.com/~de...prince.jpg

At first I was going to say that the Chicks played Friday, but I looked and they indeed played two nights in St. Paul. BTW when I was looking at the schedule I noticed they played 8 out thelast 9 nights and in 5 different cites. That's an insane schedule for a national act these days with a big stage set-up.

Prince is cool with his musical tastes and who know maybe it was Mani who really likes them. I just hope he doesn't start going in a country direction shake

Deafbug, great job! I wouldn't have risked my camera either. Well, at least somebody got to be with Prince on the anniversary of his birth. I was hoping he'd open up the glam slam room and spend it with his fans. Oh well.

I never said that Prince was "God" and that the "camera was threatening national security." rolleyes I disagree with your theory about Prince's bodyguards not having the right to take cameras away from Prince's premises. When I was at Paisley Park at last year's celebration, I witnessed a fan getting her camera taken away from the bodyguards because she was taking pictures of Paisley Park. I don't know if you've ever gone to a celebration, but it clearly states on the Paisley Park gate upon entering that no cameras, videocameras, recording devices, or cell phones are allowed on the premises. This woman clearly violated the rules, so she deserved to have her camera taken away.

As for your question about celebrities taking the cameras away when the paparazzi are taking their pictures: when Prince came to my hometown during the Purple Rain tour, he went to a bar where a member of the papparazzi tried to take his picture. Prince's bodyguard at the time, Chick Huntsberry, nicely asked the cameraman not to take Prince's picture. The cameraman did not listen, so Chick punched him, knocking the cameraman down to the ground and injuring him. The cameraman sued Prince, and the case was settled out of court.

Believe me, celebrities get tired of having their pictures taken. I just recently watched a show on E called "Celebrities Uncensored" that showed some celebrities really getting angry with the paparazzi for filming them. The celebrities were saying, "Get that camera off me", or even putting their hand over the camera lens or pushing the camera away. Who can blame them, I would get sick of it too.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Don't understand it myself, but I'm sure Prince and his people have their reasons. If you needed something, I guess you would need to speak to one of the security people at PP, and they could make the call for you. shrug

Well, he has worked with country artists in the past, and he did threaten to make an all-country album back in the WB days...you never know, he might trade in Larry Graham for Charley Pride one day.

Why so stunned? Prince toyed heavily with rockabilly early in his career - and we all know where that particular genre derives from...

As I stated Prince can do what he wants on him premises but at the Xcel Energy Center taking the camera would be theft. As for people taking pictures of Paisley Park if the security gaurds actually took the cameras away (which I don't believe as I have seen them take film, but never the camera) and they weren't on the property that would be theft and they should have called the police and charged them with theft. If they were on the property and they were violating the rules it becomes a different story. I mean do you have no sense of the laws of the United States of America?

You are making no sense with your argument because last night was not at Paisley park so the signs that you read at the Celebration mean nothing. BTW for the record I don't think there is a person on this site who has been to more shows at Paisley then me so I have seen the sign (which still doesn't mean anything as the Dixie Chicks were not playing at Paisley Park rolleyes )

The cell phone thing as they have stated is because it is possible to record with certain cell phone models. I mean that would be the worst boot ever, but that is the rationale.

Thanks for the info DeafBug for sharing with everyone, you'll have to excuse the stupidity of some of the Orgers. Prince goes to a concert and all of a sudden "he's going country". I think any influence other than a hand full of Sly and the Family Stone songs would be a welcome change.
Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

I agree that Prince can do whatever he wants at Paisley Park, no argument there. Yes, I have good sense of the laws of the United States of America, just as you do. rolleyes The person who I saw have her camera taken away was on Paisley Park premises, just outside the front door, so yes, the security guards had every right to take her camera away, since she was violating the rules.

You stated in your first post: "This is America for the love of God and the bodygaurds do not have the right to take away cameras away from his premises." I wasn't sure if you were referring to people getting their cameras taken away for taking photos at Paisley Park, or if you were referring to DeafBug's camera getting taken away for taking pictures of Prince at the Dixie Chick's concert. You did not make it clear who you were making the reference to, that was why I responded to your post the way I did. Now that I know who you were referring to, yes, I know that this did not take place at Paisley Park, and the signs at Paisley Park would not be applicable to this situation. smile

Actually Joshy, I was thinking more in the lines of a web broadcast concert, that was for clubmembers only. And since I'm certain that his fans would have been glad to pay for something like that it would have been very lucrative for him to do so. So it wasn't a bad idea at all. Your lack of understanding and over-eagerness to critisize something you don't understand is saddest of all.

Okay here are the images and movie clip as I said.

This one is new. Who is that female on the bodyguard's left shoulder? The dirty spot on the picture is where Prince is sitting. I am sorry that my camera had a spec on the lens.
http://home.attbi.com/~de...light1.jpg

This one is the same as before but in clear view.
http://home.attbi.com/~de...light2.jpg

Now the movie is 5.3MB and about 6 seconds long. I know it can be made smaller but I am no multimedia expert. As you would know that ATTBI (which Comcast bought) doesn't support streaming. So what you need to do is right click on the link and choose "Save Target As..." to download it to your hard drive. Then when the download is finish, click Open. That is for IE. I am sure you can figure out for the other browsers.
http://home.attbi.com/~de...prince.avi

Sorry that the movie is not in good mode as it could be. I had the camera set on the low mode so that it could record two minutes. The high mode is 30 seconds. I thought 2 two-minute clips would cover the song completely with little lost as the camera has to save the first half before I can start the second half.
