I tend to agree with Gold319 on this. It seems to me that if the guy doesn't observe birthdays, it is stupid to wish him a happy birthday.
If your best friend is an orthodox jew, do you ignore their beliefs and buy them a selection of non-kosher food as a present, saying, "Hey, you may not believe in eating this stuff, but I do, and it's the thought that counts." It comes across as if you don't care about the person to him you are attempting to send happiness - because it's so much more about you (the sender) rather than them (the intended recipient). But what's really laughable is people possibly thinking they are saying Happy Birthday to Prince - like he's really going to visit prince.org and click on a thread which wishes him something he doesn't believe in! ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |

Prince like other Witnesses of Jehovah don't celebrate their birthdays because anytime the Bible mentions birthdays bad things have happened. There is no mention of Jesus celebrating his birthday so Prince wouldn't feel it's appropriate for him to do so. Plus all Witnesses of Jehovah believe in a new system under God's law with everlasting life. So I suppose there isn't much point in celebrating birthdays if you have everlasting life! | |

I don't believe any one is trying to disrespect his beliefs. But we know it's his day and I for one am glad that he is still here to see it. If he's not happy that the Lord has blessed him to see another year go by then he's not really all that spirtual. So on that note, May Prince live 2 see the Dawn. Bless U Baby. | |

You know, it's the day that he popped out into the world. It happened to each and every one of us no matter how we feel about it. Now when some of us choose to celebrate on this day when the amazing Prince saw the light of day for the first time, I can't see anything wrong with that.
