TRhere are two things you can do if you want to see NPG stuff on there...
Go here http://www.apple.com/feed...tunes.html and put in a request for them to contact Paisley Park or NPG Records. Second is open the Music Store within iTunes and then to the top left, select Requests & Feedback there you can actually specify what you'd like to see in the iTunes Store. Now, the thing is if Prince would actually go with this form of distributing. Pros, well, lot's of potential NEW buyers of his releases. Offering a wider offering than what WB has offered. Exposing him to a larger audience. Cons, I think it would defeat the purpose of the NPGMusic Club. Would it make the NPGMC look like it's not a good source for his music? I also think that since the R&B and Soul and even Funk are badly represented on the iTunes Music Store, that it probably won't get much attention. ITUnes store right now also has a terrible selection of Latin artists or other World Music acts. And this really does reflect the demographic they are going after, white, middle to upper class people that think they are hip. Hey, it is what it is. Check out the Featured Artists and Staff Favorites... Sure they have Luther's new stuff and Beyoncé and The Roots, but, I think that's just the surface of the genre, that's what the demographic would tolorate. And no, I haven't and probably won't buy a lot from them. I rather use the money to get a cool Japanese remastered mini-LP CD of my favorite stuff. And no, I wouldn't buy a single Prince song from the iTunes Store, it's a bland experience. | |
