Can someone explain the RAVE / Arista deal? Ok, My question is that from what I heard, Arista paid Prince $11 Million for RAVE. Was that a record advance?
I ask because obviously Rave wouldn't have made anywhere near $11 million, so if it was an ADVANCE, wouldn't Prince have to pay the money back to Arista? If it was an Advance, why was it paid? Prince has his own studio, he already had a few songs he previewed to Clive Davis, so the money wasn't funding the rave sessions, I think Clive's only input was to have the guest stars on the CD. If it wasn't an advance, what did P do with all the money? He only made one video for the project (TGRES). I wonder if P is re couping these costs through NPGMC membership money? I thought it was $12 million?
