eric leeds appears to confirm NEWS is an improvised instrumental.

in the chat, when asked if he had worked with prince recently, he said he had worked on an instrumental project in feb which he was told will be out soon.

later he was asked how long it took to perform NEWS, he said, it was as long as the cd is, prince just counted in, gave a key and told them to play...so i guess that kind of gives us a bit more of an idea what to expect.

When U say available through the web, does that mean you have to join the club in order to hear it,cause I see no point in me joining a club where I have to download something in order to hear it,I use a public library computer, and you usually can't download things on them.
And I'm not buying a computer anytime soon.
Whatever happened to being able to a WRECKA STOW and buying a CD?

there was really no more info than that...but it appears that it will be a cd which will be available for purchase to members of the club, but that is really just speculation. so time will tell.

Well if it is only available as a CD thru the NPGMC retail section then yeah you have to join the club to buy the CD from NPGMC retail. Available exclusively thru Prince's NPGMC website.

Or, if it's "available through the WEB" it would probably just be free MP3s that they put up. Just like Xpectation was. P sure loves his instrumentals these days. I'm excited though, it should be good. Did Eric Leeds play on the Xpectation tracks? I don't think he did, I think those were just Candy Dulfer. I hope NEWS is an altogether different vibe.

i wonder if P just settled 4 what they played & said "ok this will do".
or if he went back again 2 re-record it once again live with the band.

aslong as it sounds as good as Xpectation of better its all good

i imagine prince would have gone back after the event and taken time adding to it musically and adding heaps of overdubs and sound effects, like the reverse sound from the sample.

It will be in CD-format, when you check the description of the CD in the Vault III.
Xpectation is listed as mp3 format.

So when N.E.W.S will only be available true the web, it will be only available to purchase on the web...as a CD

I'd like to have it as a CD format just because of the package... Sure you can download and print covers etc... but the quality is the best when there is a package made by professionals...

Uhm, about 10 days ago, when I was over at npgmc for one
of my sporadic visits to their "Chat"-room, one of those
PP's [can't remember the number] asked us if we wanted
the new album as a download or on cd.

Yes, sad but true.

Most of those idiot disciples in there started shouting
they wanted it in mp3 format.

:O what the motherfuckinggoddamn fuck?

I said I wanted a proper cd release with artwork and all
and above all DECENT soundquality.

The PP's seemed to agree that cd was nicer but still, the
whole thing rather made me doubt if the thing is confirmed
to be on cd afterall.

Does anyone else feel not really excited about instrumentals? I want to hear vocals.

I'm not really excited about 'extended jams'. They have their place, but I'd rather have a CD full of well written songs. I miss the days of him actually honing his craft of songwriting.

first of all, EXCELLENT use of the colorful side of the english language, istenSzek!

second, did any of those yokels say WHY they would prefer mp3 downloads? it's not even like he puts up a downloadable cover or ANY sort of track information with his downloads, like MOST artists who release music online.

sigh.

not that the actual hard package would likely be much to shake a stick at, given the track record. paper-thin cardboard sleeving doesn't really turn my crank. neither does an overly glossy, short-on-information, oversized mega-booklet.
