Is 'Prince' dead? or just dead after the Come cd and then ressurected during the Rave cd?

Is New Power Soul (NPS) dead?

Is the NPG (New Power Generation) dead?

I'm confused by your post. Are you referring to the name change(s)?

Prince "died" in 1993,but a year later a new "Prince" album titled 'Come' appeared in stores.Another "Prince" album,'The Black Album' appeared in stores a few months later.Then,in 1995,'TGE' appeared but this time it was credited to the symbol (who,incidentally,sounds alot like this dead "Prince" guy).More albums by both of these characters were released,and in 2000,the symbol guy decided to kill himself off and return as "Prince".


So,to summarize...the symbol guy is currently "dead" and Prince is alive.Hopefully,his next identity crisis won't be so dramatic...lol

Anyway, from what I've gathered, 31 december 1999, the
last contract with the name "Prince" on it expired [was
that the warner chappel publishing contract?].

So from that moment on the name "Prince" had been sort of
'emancipated' again as he himself said it. So that's when
he simply reclaimed it and dropped the o(+> moniker.

A hint at the rebirth of the "Prince" name was the mention
of Prince as producer of the Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic cd
which was released a few months prior to the expiration of
that last contract.

The Artist never really existed as such since it was simply
something the press came up with to call him something other
than squiggle or because they couldn't be bothered to
install the o(+> software they'd been sent.

NPS is more a state of mind than an actual physical thing
so it never dies. It's been around since Lovesexy and it
will probably pop up again in some of his future music, be
it as a reference be it as a general 'vibe'.

NPG is still alive tho changes regularly. It's been through
many incarnations before and probably will change line-up
again. It's just the name for his band now, whomever that
band comprises.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if he dropped the NPG thing and
just put "Prince" on his albums.

The "NPG" name is dead.

P, if u change the line up, change the band name!

As if the squiggle and prince werent enough, lets not forget the tora tora crap as well.

The whole "NPG" concept should have been killed off in 1989 after the 'Lovesexy' tour.I'm surprised that he held on to it this long.
