Who the heck is Gregory anyway???

This line has intrigued me all these years and I have never been able to interpret it.

I always took it to be an angel, especially since Lovesexy came from a dream after the Black Album was created.

Of course, another oddity about this is that Prince named the child that died Gregory (perhaps on purpose knowing that he was soon to be an angel).

Well some people have said that Anna Stesia was partly about Prince's negative experience of drugs. Dunno if that is true but I took the "gregory" line to describe a bad trip, hallucinations or revelations or whatever...

Wasn't there a guy in the band called Greg at the time anyway? Or did I dream it?

Gregory was one of Prince's alter-egos wasn't he? I thought perhaps he was referring to his own image? The beautiful girl was Ingrid Chavez, of course.

It's supposed to be about a real party Prince was at.
Gregory is Greg Brooks, the girl is Ingred Chevez.
They were all pretty fucked, Greg looked pale, either because he'd taken too much drink or drugs, or both, or Prince had !
Ingred pointed out that his music was pretty dark and he needed to cheer up a bit, at the time he'd just recorded the Black album.
Prince looked around, decided he needed a change of lifestyle, thus Lovesexy and the cancelation of the Black album.

I think the cocaine reference refers to Vanity and Morris (if not more people) and the stuck in the snow is Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
