I might have been dreaming when I heard this, but a local radio station reported that the members of Vanity 6 have reunited, without Prince, to do an album. Has anyone else heard this rumour?

Yeah,I heard about this rumor too! Supposedly,Vanity,Brenda and Susan have been holed up in a recording studio making demos.The plan is to have an album's worth of songs completed by late summer,when they will present the songs to a record company (Sony has expressed interest,as well as Clive Davis' label).Vanity has gone back to using the name "Vanity",and the album is said to be "dance/electronica/funk",and there's even a rap number in which all three girls announce their return! The new songs will be "sensual,not sexual".The girls haven't become prudes but they will NOt be wearing lingerie onstage this time around.

Lighten up Controversy, is it really that serious? I'll tell you, upon hearing the news I quickly dusted off "faraway eyes" and had vivid images of what they would sound like today. Vocally challenged, yes, but still, would be nice to hear from them again.

So, are The Mary Jane Girls aren't far behind?

I truly believe that this is just a rumor. Although it would be great to see them again. I must admit I'm a die hard Vanity fan.

No offence or anything, but aren't they slightly 'past it' now. They were fun and everything, but would you really take them seriously...?

RE: MJG - JoJo still tour as the MJGs with some new girls behind her doesn't she? Or last I heard.

They were on Jenny Jones a few years back.

Also Rick James has spoke abou releasing some unreleased tracks, including a few MJG ones in the future.

I doubt this is true. I'm going over to denise's website and email them and ask.

I *love* Vanity/Vanity 6 and for nostalgia's sake it would be truly cool to think they'd reunite ...BUT:

..the realistic part of me knows that most things have their day in the sun and then everyone moves on to different things. The ladies are all 20 years older, and a lot of things have changed both in their lives and in the music business since those days of Vanity 6. I just really can't see them deciding to get back together now.

Plus I HIGHLY doubt Denise has suddenly decided to again use the name "Vanity". Doing so would go against her newfound religiousness and I just don't see that happening.

This is some far out rumor to surface,tho, for sure. Fun to contemplate and imagine, but I don't give it much else past that.

Hopefully it's just a silly rumour.

Maybe folks are getting nostalgic because Felix's Glamorama project fell through.

You know Vanity 6 are very influential on the electro scene today.
