PrintablePrince is the musical MVP of 20th century pop music. I think that's how he will be portrayed/remembered. The man does it all.
I hope he connects with a wide audience one more time in his career just for the sake of history. I'm not hopeful given the religious context of his recent work. His mindset is "get saved like me" and the nourishment of the soul rather than a celebration of fun and the human condition. | |

Interesting topic. Rather than rate him, I'll just say this: Prince has put out a continuous stream of music for more than two decades now. How he rates as a player is not all that important. He's not the best at anything. He's a prolific writer and a damn good performer. whether you like his old stuff or his new, he has proven himself several times over as an artist. He's not the best, but he doesn't NEED to be. He's unique. | |

JIMI and CLAPTON were GOD. what kind of nonsense is that? i love those guys but i wouldn't call anybody by the creator's name!!! overall prince is one of the best i've ever heard. he's above average on everything he plays which you can't say about too many musicians . past and present. when you add his singing ability and dancing (something most pop-rock stars can't do) the little prick/gemini with the HIGH voice ain't too shabby. one thing to ponder: great artists aren't always the best musicians. dylan,lennon (he was the weakest musician in the beatles. and would admit this) bono...madonna (what can she play ?) micheal jackson. so does it really matter if our fave artists can play? | |

Prince is one of the most complete and versatile

He is indeed unique. Prince kind of fused the best influences from black and white music and made his own soulful style which ranges from many musical influences. He simply is one of the very best performers that ever lived, no doubt. Also his musical influence shouldnt be underestimated. His shows and music embody what life is all about: happiness and sorrow, sex and love, spirituality, weirdness... times times. I always felt that the  sign kind of reflected the essence and genius of Prince.
His talent is a gift given to only the true greats of our time, no doubt in my mind  | |

Exactly, just because you are an extremely talented vocalist/guitarist does not mean when you die you've contributed anything to popular music. Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas.
