Prince vs Michael Jackson 80s style

lets go people. Here's a thread that has probably been done 2 death b4 2 many times, but some of the other threads r hardly captivating, so why not?. Who really was the king of the 80's and why? 4 me it is really between the 2. Sure there were others, but these 2 held the 80's by the balls in every way. So go on...who and why...and at the end of the day...i wanna hear p ofcourse more often:)

Right. this ain't goin' nowhere...so let me give my opinion 'ere...michael was more a more dominant force commercially and P was right behind...both were great but 1 was more artistic and did what he wanted 2...and we know which 1 that was...oipinions may differ but there is no denyin' that there was a major battle between the two...4 me p had more talent..,but how do u draw the line between the 2...sho they r diff...but they can both dance so well...perhaps as far as artistic integrity is concerned - and does this mean leaving a label behind and foreshadowing commercial success? what say u?

u have kinda covered it already but i think that p is the better dancer mike seemed to run out of moves princes dancing seems more veried and natural.both great singers prince is definatly cooler mike just looks so uneasy with women.clothes wise both individual but prince has tended to take more risks with some totaly wackey outfits

I think, along with his music, Prince was taking more risks with what he was wearing.. Michael was kind of playing it straight with trousers and big old shoulder pad jackets when Prince was in skin tight lace numbers! I personally prefer Princes style, what was it he said " I'd rather make a woman stare by putting on something another won't wear"? I like the fact that he was always taking risks. I think it also shows that Prince wasn't it to being 'styled' in to what people like, rather that he wanted to set trends. Whether that worked or not is a bit of a different story

hey i a male...i don't really get turned on by other dudes without shirt. Mayb others were by P's bare chest, but i was in it 4 his great music and moves...not quite the look he had goin' back then. I realise it was all him, and in some way enabled him 2 make all the great tunes...afterall it all adds up 2 personal character and what the artist can do creatively. As far as clothing it's all a personal preferance. I prefered the stuff Jacko wore in the 80s. I have no doubts many out there agree, as do others who do not. Cool. I am enjoyin' these threads and ur contributions. smile

RU kidding?! Prince was, is, and always will be the one artist with the most style, creativity, looks and everything else worth listing. Prince is probably one of the most gifted and prolific artists of our time - you all know this otherwise we wouldn't be visiting this site on a daily basis. Ya know, I try to compare Prince to Michael even thinking back on their days of glory and still come up with Prince. He just had more sex appeal, enthusiasm, and originality going for him. Michael has such a long history in the music business dating back to the Jackson 5 which I think is what added to his mondo popularity in the 80s. Prince started (with a label) in 1977 and had to build everything from the ground up by himself practically. Prince really is a self-made musician, business man, producer, etc . . . Don't get me wrong I love MJ I just give Prince more props because of what he has accomplished almost entirely on his own.

I partied in the eighties and MJ may have had a more dominant force in the American eye. But, people were always interested in the mystique of Prince and loved to asked us fans questions about the man(like we knew himpersoanlly). I think some folks didn't want to admit that they enjoyed listening to Prince. lol

When i was growing up there were mostly either those who were p fans or those who were MJ fans. I was both. I guess like others, I enjoyed what they both had 2 offer. Because in the end they were both great and diff 4 me with some similarties. Do i think P was more gifted artistically? Well i will just say that they both had something different 2 offer. Don't forget that even though MJ was more commercial, his stuff was still xcellent. I mean just listen 2 Billy Jean. It is still great. p was definitely more daring and creative, but that hasn't always worked - i certainly do not listen 2 some of the songs. P is 1 fantastic artist, but 4 me not as great a business man. I mean sure he told WB where 2 go, and that has been good 4 the music in some ways, but in terms of business...?? i mean it made him lose a slice of the market where he was makin' $. Just a view ofcourse. U guys can say what u want. In the end i luv my music and luv both.

i have a friend who conducts a train from chicago to minnesota, he told me one time that Michael rented out a whole traincar for himself and got off in minneapolis, this was doing the time history was anticiapated. I know he worked with jam and lewis but i also heard Prince was supposed to collaborate a track with all of them for this release, i never found out if that happen..does anyone know?

this is interesting 4sho. Fuck a new thread. No need lets keep this goin' as i want 2 know more myself. I think it could b a blast 2 c them 2gether. I know there will those who r against but hell it would b somethin'. These r 2 of the finest artists 2 ever open their mouth smile I have read a no of times that Santana wanted them 2 2gether. Sometimes i think there was somethin' but it just never got released thanx in part 2 Mikes label. Since Mike has been with a label there may have been legalities and royalties 2 deal with. Perhaps it sits in the vault like the Miles stuff. Mayb it will come out. Perhaps like during Bad, there were meetings, but nothing really took place. Any1??
