Yesterday a friend of mine told me Prince wasn't funky.. we discussed music and we came to Prince's music, and I said he'd never become a Princefan, coz Prince was too funky and my friend just laughed and told me "Prince is NOT funky".. I was sooo upset!! ... I really wanna show my friend that Prince is FUNKY! What should I make my friend listen to?? Any ideas? it really upsets me that someone thinks Prince isn't funky!!! That hurts me..

Have him listen to some Crystal Ball and then DMSR from 1999

Have him listen to Get It Up by The Time. Truly the funkiest song Prince ever wrote.

So your friend hasn't listened to Prince already, then??...If not, how can he/she/it say Prince is or isn't funky??...and if they have listened to Prince, then they proberly already heard anything you'd play for them...

I am a huge fan of Prince but I don't really think he is all that funky. In his 30 plus albums you can most certainly find some great examples of funk, but it probably isn't that big of a percentage when compared to his catalogue. The new live cd showcases the fact that he has gone almost completely away from the funk at his live shows.

I'm not saying this to criticize Prince it's just the truth as I see it.

Tie his ass to a chair and play every album from 1978 to the present. And if that don't work, do it again.

I think the problem is that most people now do not know what funk is. Funk is Nelly, Cash Money Brother or 50 cents.
