Tick Tick Bang - revisited

one of the more experimental tracks prince has ever written. it has a great drum pattern and a wicked guitar solo. Buddha bless this song.

Alot of 'orgers give this song a beat-down. I've always liked it. I always love it when Prince kicks the tempo up a notch.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I don't know which I like better - the Graffiti Bridge version or the old demo version with the Dirty Mind/Controversy sound...both are such bombshells!

Thank the Jimi Hendrix Experience for that one. Mitch Mitchell, the drummer, to be exact (and one of rock's baddest, IMHO).

For the original (in case you didn't already know), it's "Little Miss Lover," its own funky-rocky song. And, yeah, I prefer it to Tick Tick Bang.

Funny this conversation just came up. I listened to Axis: Bold As Love yesterday for the first time in years, and smiled when I heard Little Miss Lover start up. After the album, I went straight to Grafitti Bridge and cued up Tick Tick Bang - it's a clear lift, and fun to hear what they've both done with the beat.

After that, I went to Joy In Repetition, and it was all over. I got lost in that one for a while...

For those of you slow on the uptake, it's a song about wanking. 'Tick tick bang' is the sound a penis makes as it is being self-serviced.Except for the 'bang' part anyway!

how's that for musical freakiness? smile

i mean it's not like listening 2 Lovesexy where every song u hear makes u go "how did he come UP WITH THAT!" or 1999 even...

its in that simpler era of GB/D&P where he just wanted 2 get funky & thats that.

still shits all over anything else from 1990 tho hey

smile

Oh, no wonder. I don't have that reaction with the Lovesexy album.

TTB is chaotically dense, there's a lot going on in that song.
